# Senior Financial Analyst, Infrastructure

## About the Role

This role sits within Shopify’s Infrastructure Finance team and is responsible for the financial management of Shopify’s infrastructure software area, along with the data management that supports infrastructure finance more broadly. The position partners closely with R&D, Data, and Product on planning, investment decisions, and business cases, and helps communicate financial insights to senior leaders across the company.

The role also oversees data and tooling across the full infrastructure portfolio, including hosting, hardware, software, and AI. A key focus is maintaining accurate, accessible information to support forecasting, close, reporting, and analysis. The team is also looking to improve efficiency by using Shopify’s AI and data tools to reduce manual work and develop stronger reporting and insights for decision-makers.

## Key Responsibilities

– Partner with R&D and Product to understand infrastructure software needs, priorities, and value, and bring financial rigor to decision-making.
– Own forecasting and reporting cycles for the software area, including monthly variance analysis and operating reviews.
– Build management reporting across infrastructure, including new views, dashboards, and sites that support investment storytelling.
– Manage the data and systems behind reporting to keep financial information current and accurate.
– Track cost drivers and unit economics to support value-oriented spend management.
– Develop financial models and surface insights that inform business decisions.
– Identify and communicate risks and opportunities in the software investment area early and clearly.
– Use SQL, Python, and AI tools to automate manual work and improve FP&A processes.

## Required Skills

– Proven experience delivering impact in complex and ambiguous business environments.
– Background in R&D finance, working with engineering teams on general FP&A activities.
– Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify technical topics for non-technical audiences.
– Significant experience in financial modeling and strategic business planning.
– Strong SQL and Python skills, including complex querying, data extraction, data manipulation, and maintaining data integrity.
– Genuine interest in the R&D space and in exploring new tools and innovative solutions.
– Growth mindset and a builder mentality.
– Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and adapt to change.
– Experience in data science, management consulting, investment banking, FP&A, or a related field.
– Experience in tech, fintech, or SaaS business models.
– Demonstrated experience transforming or automating FP&A processes.
