# Senior FinOps / Data and Governance Specialist

## About the Role

This role is responsible for managing and optimizing infrastructure and cloud service costs in AWS through FinOps practices. The position focuses on improving cost visibility, financial efficiency, governance, and reporting across the cloud environment.

The specialist will support Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA), analyze cloud cost data, maintain cost models, and develop financial and operational dashboards. The role works closely with infrastructure, platform, data, security, finance, and business teams.

## Key Responsibilities

– Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure and service costs.
– Define and monitor unit cost, consumption, efficiency, and technology service profitability metrics.
– Implement showback and chargeback models across teams, projects, and business units.
– Prepare and maintain financial forecasts for cloud service consumption.
– Produce analysis, reports, and recommendations for the FinOps Committee.
– Provide expert support for ROSA configuration and cost optimization, including machine pools, autoscaling, and storage.
– Assess ROSA configurations against Red Hat best practices and official documentation.
– Analyze AWS cost data using CUR, Athena, and Glue.
– Build and maintain cloud cost data models.
– Create and maintain financial and operational dashboards and indicators in Amazon QuickSight.
– Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of CUDOS dashboards and KPIs.
– Identify cost trends, budget variances, and optimization opportunities.
– Support basic AWS governance and security controls, including Tag Policies, AWS Config, SCPs, and compliance controls.
– Verify compliance with cloud tagging, governance, and cost-allocation policies.
– Document recommendations, analyses, controls, procedures, and optimization opportunities.
– Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, data, security, finance, and business teams.

## Required Skills

– Expert-level knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA).
– Experience with ROSA machine pools, autoscaling, storage, and cost configuration and optimization.
– Knowledge of Red Hat best practices and official documentation.
– Experience with FinOps and AWS cloud cost management.
– Knowledge of unit costs, showback, chargeback, financial forecasting, and cloud cost optimization.
– Experience supporting a FinOps Committee.
– Basic to intermediate knowledge of AWS Cost and Usage Report (CUR), Amazon Athena, AWS Glue, cloud cost data models, Amazon QuickSight, dashboards, KPIs, and CUDOS.
– Basic knowledge of AWS governance, security, and compliance.
– Experience with Tag Policies, AWS Config, and Service Control Policies (SCPs).
– Strong analytical ability and results orientation.
– Sound financial and technical judgment.
– Ability to work cross-functionally with infrastructure, data, security, finance, and business teams.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Optimize AWS infrastructure and service costs.
– Establish cost visibility through unit-cost metrics, consumption analysis, and financial reporting.
– Implement showback and chargeback models.
– Maintain cloud consumption forecasts.
– Identify savings and optimization opportunities for FinOps governance.
– Analyze budget variances and cloud spending trends.
– Support cost allocation, tagging, and governance controls.
– Optimize ROSA machine pools, autoscaling, and storage costs.
– Maintain cost data models and CUDOS-based dashboards and KPIs.
