# Senior FP&A Analyst, Cloud Hosting
## About the Role
The Senior FP&A Analyst, Cloud Hosting supports GitLab’s Financial Planning and Analysis team by providing financial analysis and decision support for cloud and AI infrastructure investments. This role reports to the Manager, FP&A and helps turn financial, billing, and operational data into insights that support business decisions across engineering and finance.
The position is focused on managing cloud and AI-related spend, maintaining forecast models, and supporting recurring close and planning activities. It works closely with stakeholders across engineering, product, procurement, accounting, and finance to clarify data, explain results, and support spending decisions.
This role also contributes to building a more efficient finance workflow by using AI tools to improve analysis, reporting, data preparation, and overall operating effectiveness. It is suited to someone who can work independently in a distributed, asynchronous environment and communicate complex information clearly.
## Key Responsibilities
– Manage and report on cloud and AI-related expenses.
– Maintain forecast models using actuals, usage drivers, and business drivers.
– Perform month-end close activities, including:
– Accruals
– Allocations
– Reconciliations
– Variance analysis
– Close commentary
– Support forecasting and annual planning cycles.
– Build or improve financial models to address new business questions.
– Partner with engineering, product, procurement, accounting, and finance teams on inputs, issue resolution, and spending decisions.
– Review cloud billing data from provider consoles, billing exports, and other sources.
– Translate financial and operational data into narratives, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
– Use AI tools to automate and improve recurring finance workflows.
– Improve data quality, accuracy, scalability, and operating efficiency.
– Own deliverables and communicate progress and risks proactively.
– Manage changing priorities in a remote, asynchronous work environment.
## Required Skills
– Experience in FP&A, corporate finance, accounting, or finance business partnering.
– Exposure to vendor spend, forecasting, variance analysis, and month-end close activities.
– Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
– Ability to work with detailed data, investigate variances, and evaluate financial trade-offs.
– Ability to build or enhance financial models from scratch.
– Ability to explain complex financial and operational information clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
– Ability to prioritize effectively and work independently.
– Clear communication skills in an asynchronous environment.
– Experience with cloud and AI vendor spend.
