## About the Role
The FinOps Specialist position is aimed at enhancing cloud financial management and optimizing expenditure across various cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role plays a vital part in implementing FinOps strategies, driving cost visibility, and ensuring financial accountability within the organization. The FinOps Specialist will work closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Finance teams to facilitate effective cost management practices.
Key objectives include monitoring and analyzing cloud costs, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and developing actionable insights from financial data. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising the quality of cloud services while promoting a culture of financial accountability across all teams.
## Key Responsibilities
– Implement FinOps strategies, policies, and best practices to improve cloud financial management.
– Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud costs across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
– Drive cloud cost visibility and transparency across product lines and business areas.
– Establish cloud cost governance processes to ensure financial accountability among teams.
– Support budgeting, forecasting, and cloud cost optimization target-setting activities.
– Analyze spending trends, identify anomalies, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
– Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams to identify cost optimization opportunities.
– Support product finance and management processes, including cost allocation and chargeback mechanisms.
– Develop and maintain cost tracking, reporting, and optimization tools.
– Utilize IBM Cloudability and native cloud tools for expenditure monitoring and analysis.
– Produce regular financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders.
– Use Power BI and advanced Excel for data analysis and translating findings into business insights.
– Promote financial accountability and cost awareness across teams.
– Identify opportunities to improve resource utilization and enhance cost efficiency.
– Contribute to the continuous improvement of FinOps governance and practices.
## Required Skills
– 3+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Cost Management, or related fields.
– Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, focusing on their billing models and cost structures.
– Solid understanding of cloud architectures and financial management processes.
– Strong knowledge of cloud cost optimization techniques.
– Experience with IBM Cloudability.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
– Background in IT Asset Management or financial management within IT.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with complex datasets.
– Excellent communication skills, collaborating with various teams.
– Knowledge of FinOps best practices; relevant certifications are preferred.
– Fluent in English (written and verbal).
