# Job Description: FinOps Specialist (Remote)

## About the Role
We are seeking a FinOps Specialist to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing cloud expenditures, serving as the bridge between technical consumption and financial decision-making. The FinOps Specialist will work closely with finance and management to translate cloud spending into understandable financial metrics, ensuring efficient budget allocation and cost management. The primary focus will be on identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing governance strategies to maintain cloud financial health.

## Key Responsibilities
– Manage and analyze cloud expenditures using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Report (CUR), AWS Budgets, and Cost Anomaly Detection.
– Oversee the management of Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, determining optimal purchasing levels and timings.
– Ensure accurate implementation of tagging and cost allocation practices, verifying that financial tags are correctly applied.
– Handle showback/chargeback models to distribute costs by area or project effectively.
– Identify continuous optimization opportunities and rightsizing initiatives using AWS Compute Optimizer and Trusted Advisor.
– Analyze consolidated AWS invoices and the billing process across the organization.
– Manage budgets, set alerts, and establish governance mechanisms for cloud spending.
– Collaborate with the finance team to convey cloud expenditures in financial terms.
– Analyze PPA agreements, including annual commitments, discounts, and credits.
– Perform cost projections based on various migration scenarios.

## Required Skills
– Proficiency in AWS cloud cost management tools such as AWS Cost Explorer and AWS Budgets.
– Experience with financial analysis related to cloud expenditures.
– Strong understanding of tagging and cost allocation practices.
– Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and cloud invoices.
– Excellent communication skills for collaborating with finance and management teams.
