## About the Role
Lumenalta is hiring an experienced Data & FinOps Engineer for a current GCP platform engagement. This role combines data engineering with cloud financial operations, with ownership across audit logging, immutable storage for retention, cost attribution, and cloud spend visibility.
The position is focused on building the governance and observability layer for a multi-tenant platform so it remains compliant, traceable, and cost-aware. You will work closely with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that supports both operational use and compliance needs.
This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in Latin America (LATAM). A minimum 6-hour overlap with core business hours is required, with those hours primarily aligned to U.S. Pacific, Central, or Eastern time zones. Applications are accepted until July 26, 2026, and candidates can expect feedback by August 3, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets, including compliance-oriented schema design, tamper-resistant retention setup, and access controls.
– Build and operate Cloud Audit Log pipelines that continuously route MCP inputs and outputs into structured audit storage.
– Create Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards to support live cost visibility, spending trends, and budget forecasting.
– Implement FinOps tagging and labeling across GCP resources to enable cost allocation by tenant, project, and user.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, including notification and escalation logic.
– Build metadata pipeline workflows that support archive management, lineage tracking, retention scheduling, and lifecycle policy enforcement.
– Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL pipelines with strong data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Partner with data, product, and engineering teams to deliver data infrastructure that meets operational and compliance requirements.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Proven experience building production data pipelines.
– Strong hands-on BigQuery experience, including audit dataset design and schema modeling for compliance use cases.
– Experience configuring Object Lock / immutability for legally defensible log retention.
– Experience routing and processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines.
– Understanding of log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Experience with Cloud Billing exports.
– Ability to design FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies.
– Experience building Looker Studio dashboards for tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota and cost anomaly alerting in Cloud Monitoring.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems.
– Strong Python skills for pipeline development.
– Advanced SQL skills for large datasets in BigQuery and related GCP services.
– Experience with data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
## Preferred Skills
– Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Experience with data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Experience with Looker.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.

## Why You Might Be Interested
This role offers the chance to combine data engineering and FinOps in a highly technical GCP environment. You would own systems that affect compliance, auditability, cost attribution, and spend transparency for a multi-tenant platform. The work is hands-on and cross-functional, with direct collaboration across data, product, and engineering teams. It may suit someone who wants focused ownership, remote flexibility, and exposure to both cloud governance and financial operations.
