# Cloud FinOps Analyst
## About the Role
This role is focused on improving financial visibility and control across public cloud spend, with primary emphasis on GCP and AWS. The analyst will help turn cloud usage into clear reporting, allocation models, and optimization actions that support better cost discipline.
The position works closely with Finance, cloud administrators, application owners, and business stakeholders. Its purpose is to strengthen accountability, improve forecasting, and support cloud governance through standards and best practices for efficient cloud usage.
## Key Responsibilities
– Monitor and analyze public cloud costs and usage.
– Build and maintain chargeback and showback models for accurate cost allocation.
– Manage cloud commitments and reservations, including Committed Use Discounts and Savings Plans.
– Produce cost, usage, and utilization dashboards and reports for technical and business audiences.
– Develop cloud cost forecasts and budget alerts in partnership with Finance.
– Partner with cloud administrators to identify rightsizing and unused-resource cleanup opportunities.
– Work with application and business owners to improve cost visibility and accountability.
– Automate cloud cost reporting, anomaly detection, and governance controls.
– Help define standards, policies, and practices for efficient cloud deployment and usage.
## Preferred Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in IT Management, Computer Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
– 3+ years of FinOps experience in large-scale cloud environments.
– Experience with major public cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle.
– Strong understanding of cloud services and underlying infrastructure operations.
– Knowledge of Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts, and tagging strategies.
– Experience with scripting and task automation for cloud cost management.
– Familiarity with Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth, or similar platforms.
– Proficiency in Python and data visualization tools for analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
– FinOps certifications such as FinOps Certified Practitioner or Advanced Practitioner.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
– Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar tools.
– Foundational cloud certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or GCP Associate Cloud Engineer.
– Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
