## About the Role
The IT Financial Analyst supports financial planning, governance, and operational reporting for the Information Technology organization. This role is responsible for building and maintaining the department’s budget, forecast, and financial tracking processes, while also overseeing vendor spend, purchase orders, invoices, and reconciliations with Finance.
The position serves as a key partner to IT and Finance leadership, providing visibility into commitments, actuals, budget variance, and investment priorities. It also helps ensure that IT spending is accurately classified, tracked, and aligned with organizational objectives.
In addition to routine financial operations, the role supports analysis for renewals, new initiatives, and contract decisions. It works closely with Procurement, Accounts Payable, and other stakeholders to maintain accurate records and strengthen financial controls.
## Key Responsibilities
– Build the annual operating and capital budget with leadership input and align it to Finance requirements.
– Maintain a rolling forecast that reflects renewals, commitments, actuals, and year-end outlook.
– Model the financial impact of proposed initiatives, headcount changes, and contract renewals.
– Track monthly financial data, reconcile department records to Finance actuals, and resolve variances to specific causes.
– Maintain a detailed spend register covering budget lines, purchase orders, vendors, contract terms, and status.
– Identify miscoded, duplicate, or unbudgeted charges and coordinate corrections with Finance and Accounts Payable.
– Prepare purchase requisitions, validate purchase order coding, and ensure commitment identifiers are captured correctly.
– Review vendor invoices against contract terms, purchase orders, and delivered work before approval.
– Reconcile managed service, time and materials, and statement of work billing, including capitalizable and expense allocations.
– Manage purchase order balances, procurement coordination, payment status, disputes, and vendor setup.
– Administer the department’s purchase card program and reconcile monthly statements.
– Place and reconcile orders through the Amazon Business ghost card account.
– Maintain inventories of software subscriptions, support agreements, and service contracts.
– Provide advance notice of upcoming renewals, including cost, usage, entitlement position, and negotiation history.
– Track authorizations for expenditure and support closeout activities that place assets on the register.
– Apply capitalization policy and monitor items on the amortization schedule.
– Produce the monthly financial package for leadership, including budget-to-actual results, forecast, commitments, and variance commentary.
– Perform cost analyses such as total cost of ownership, vendor comparisons, build-versus-buy, and renewal scenarios.
– Build and maintain tracking and reporting tools, including documentation of sources, calculations, and refresh procedures.
– Support month-end close, budget reviews, audit requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley technology control requests.
– Document financial processes and coach team leads and project owners on budget ownership and purchasing procedures.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
– 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting.
– At least 1 year of experience supporting a technology, engineering, or shared services department.
– Experience reconciling departmental tracking to general ledger actuals and resolving variances.
– Working knowledge of purchase order and invoice lifecycles, accruals, prepaid expense, and capital versus operating expense classification.
– Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including building and maintaining models used by others.
– Ability to explain financial results clearly to non-financial audiences.
– Strong attention to detail and a track record of identifying errors before they reach Finance or leadership.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience in a manufacturing environment.
– Experience with IT financial management, including software subscriptions and licensing, managed service and time and materials billing, cloud consumption billing, or technology asset accounting.
– Familiarity with technology cost attribution frameworks such as Technology Business Management.
– Experience with JD Edwards or a comparable ERP procurement and accounts payable module.
– Experience building reports in Power BI or a similar tool.
– Progress toward a CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification.
