## About the Role
NYU Langone Health is seeking a Manager of Information Technology, Financial Operations, to lead FinOps activities and manage FinOps staff. The role connects finance, engineering, operations, and IT Finance to improve cloud-spend visibility, control costs, and align technology investments with organizational priorities.
The manager will oversee financial analysis, forecasting, cost allocation, reporting, governance, and optimization across cloud environments. The position also manages FinOps Senior Business Analysts, establishes priorities, supports career development, and communicates financial insights to technical and business stakeholders.
## Key Responsibilities
– Manage FinOps staff and oversee accountability, workload prioritization, forecasting, reporting, and delivery of timely, accurate insights.
– Analyze cloud usage and spending to identify savings opportunities, anomalies, idle resources, and rightsizing opportunities.
– Implement optimization measures including rightsizing, commitment-based discounts, idle-resource termination, and other efficiency initiatives.
– Measure the return on investment of technical projects and communicate optimization outcomes.
– Develop financial models, budgets, forecasts, and reporting on actual costs, trends, and spending predictability.
– Manage cloud cost allocation, chargeback, and tagging practices across departments, products, services, and projects.
– Partner with engineering, operations, finance, and IT Finance teams to evaluate the cost impact of architecture and technology decisions.
– Produce dashboards and financial reports, and present recommendations to technical teams and business stakeholders.
– Support cloud-provider contract negotiations, billing management, pricing discussions, service-level optimization, and compliance with agreements.
– Establish and enforce cloud financial management policies, procedures, and governance practices.
– Promote FinOps principles, cost awareness, data-driven decision-making, and cost-saving practices across the organization.
– Train internal stakeholders on cloud cost-management processes and tools.
– Review approved Cloud, AI, and API requests with the IT Finance team through Project Portfolio Meetings and off-cycle review processes in Ivanti.
– Improve internal and external processes to increase efficiency and ease of use.
– Monitor developments in cloud financial management and continuously improve processes and outcomes.
– Develop career paths and professional development opportunities for staff.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, computer science, or a related field.
– At least five years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
– Experience requirements listed for the role include seven or more years in financial analysis and five or more years in cloud operations or a related area.
– Knowledge of accrual-basis accounting.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all organizational levels.
– Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
– High attention to detail and accuracy.
– Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
## Preferred Skills

– Familiarity with SQL and visualization through business intelligence platforms.
– FinOps certification, such as FinOps Certified Practitioner.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Allocate cloud costs and support chargeback across departments and projects.
– Implement tagging strategies for products, services, and departments.
– Provide cloud-spend reporting, dashboards, and actionable recommendations.
– Establish cost governance, accountability, and financial transparency.
– Support cloud-provider billing, contracts, pricing, and service-level management.
– Promote FinOps adoption and educate stakeholders on cost-management practices.
– Monitor cost efficiency and assess the ROI of technical initiatives.

## Compensation
**Salary range:** $101,493.51–$152,437.74 annually
Actual compensation may vary based on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. The stated range excludes bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, and other compensation or benefits.
