## About the Role

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Manager of Information Technology, Financial Operations, to lead FinOps staff and oversee cloud financial management activities. The role connects finance, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to improve cloud cost visibility, predictability, accountability, and efficiency.

The successful candidate will manage FinOps analysts, guide forecasting and reporting activities, evaluate cost implications of technical decisions, and support a cost-conscious approach to cloud, AI, and API investments. The position also includes staff development, process improvement, and collaboration with the IT Finance team.

## Key Responsibilities

– Manage FinOps Senior Business Analysts, including workload prioritization, accountability, forecasting, and quality assurance.
– Analyze cloud usage and spending to identify anomalies, idle resources, rightsizing opportunities, and cost-reduction strategies.
– Implement efficiency initiatives such as rightsizing, commitment-based discounts, and idle-resource termination.
– Develop financial models, budgets, forecasts, and reports covering cloud costs, trends, variances, and predictability.
– Manage cost allocation, chargeback, and tagging strategies across departments, products, services, and projects.
– Assess the financial impact of architecture and other technical decisions.
– Measure the return on investment of technical and cost-optimization initiatives.
– Produce dashboards and communicate actionable recommendations to technical teams and business stakeholders.
– Establish and enforce cloud financial management policies, procedures, and governance practices.
– Promote FinOps principles, educate stakeholders, and support a data-driven approach to cloud cost management.
– Assist with vendor negotiations, pricing optimization, service-level management, billing, and contract compliance.
– Partner with cloud service providers and internal engineering, operations, finance, and IT teams.
– Review approved Cloud, AI, and API requests in Ivanti through Project Portfolio Meetings and off-cycle processes.
– Improve internal and external processes to increase efficiency and ease of use.
– Develop career paths and support professional growth for team members.
– Monitor developments in cloud financial management and improve processes and outcomes.

## Required Skills

– Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
– Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, computer science, or a related field.
– The posting also specifies 7+ years of financial analysis experience and 5+ years of cloud operations or related experience.
– Knowledge of accrual-basis accounting.

– FinOps certification, such as FinOps Certified Practitioner.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Optimize cloud spending through usage analysis, rightsizing, commitment-based discounts, and idle-resource removal.
– Develop cloud budgets, forecasts, financial models, and spending reports.
– Monitor actual costs, trends, anomalies, and forecast accuracy.
– Allocate and charge back costs across departments and projects.
– Apply tagging strategies to attribute costs to products, services, and departments.
– Evaluate the cost impact of architecture and technical decisions.
– Track the return on investment of optimization initiatives.
– Improve cloud spend visibility through reports, dashboards, and stakeholder communications.
– Establish cost governance, financial accountability, and transparency.
