# Director, Technology Finance & FinOps

## About the Role

At OneMain Financial, the Director, Technology Finance & FinOps is responsible for maximizing the value of technology investments through financial planning, investment analysis, cloud financial operations, and close business partnership. The role serves as the primary financial advisor to technology leadership.

This position combines strategic finance with FinOps practices to improve cost transparency, optimize spend, and help ensure that technology portfolios, infrastructure, cloud services, software, and strategic initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes.

The Director works closely with technology leaders, engineering, architecture, and senior executives. This is an in-office role in New York City, with a Tuesday through Thursday schedule. The target base salary range is $220,000-$240,000 annually, and the position is eligible for an additional compensation program based on individual and company performance.

## Key Responsibilities

– **Strategic investment management:** Build business cases, ROI analyses, and total cost of ownership models; help prioritize investments and allocate resources; evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, vendor selections, and transformation programs; track realized benefits and returns.
– **Financial planning and decision support:** Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning for technology spend; provide scenario analysis and executive recommendations; prepare presentations for senior leadership; define KPIs and performance metrics.
– **FinOps and cost management:** Drive cloud financial management and cost optimization; create showback and chargeback frameworks; monitor cloud, infrastructure, and software spend; partner with engineering and architecture to align technical and financial outcomes.
– **Vendor and portfolio management:** Support vendor negotiations with financial analysis; assess utilization, consumption trends, and technology economics; manage technology portfolio reporting and investment governance.

## Required Skills

– 10+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, FinOps, technology business management, consulting, or a related field.
– Strong financial modeling and business case development skills.
– Experience supporting technology organizations and partnering with engineering leaders.
– Knowledge of cloud economics and FinOps principles.
– Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business insights.
– Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.

– Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, Cloudability, Apptio, Power BI, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
