## About the Role
This FinOps Engineer will help build and scale a cloud financial operations platform focused on AWS. The role sits at the intersection of cloud engineering, data engineering, automation, and financial operations.
You will develop cost data pipelines, automate governance controls, and create reporting that helps Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams understand and manage cloud spend. The work also includes contributing to AI-enabled analytics and automation efforts, with a focus on improving visibility, control, and efficiency across AWS environments.
## Key Responsibilities
– Build and maintain automated pipelines for AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR).
– Develop scalable ETL/ELT workflows using Athena, Glue, and S3.
– Design reusable financial data models across projects, services, cost centers, and business units.
– Automate cloud tagging governance and compliance reporting.
– Create dashboards and self-service reporting for Engineering, Operations, and Finance stakeholders.
– Support Cloud Financial Management (CFM) assessments and operational improvements.
– Work with Cloud, Platform, Data Engineering, and Finance teams to optimize cloud spend.
– Contribute to AI-enabled cloud cost analytics and automation initiatives.
## Required Skills
– 4–7 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
– Hands-on experience with AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR), Amazon Athena, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, AWS IAM, and AWS Cost Explorer.
– Strong SQL skills and experience building ETL/ELT pipelines.
– Python scripting experience.
– Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
– Experience with BI tools such as Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, or Tableau.
– Working knowledge of FinOps principles, cloud cost allocation, CAPEX vs OPEX, budgeting, and cost optimization.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– An automation-first approach with a focus on scalable, reusable solutions.
– Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
– Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Foundation Certified Practitioner.
– AWS Certifications.
– Experience with AWS Cloud Intelligence Dashboards (CUDOS).
– Experience supporting hybrid cloud or enterprise infrastructure environments.
– Exposure to AI/LLM tools such as Claude for engineering workflows.
