# Senior Manager, Funding, Value & Capacity

## About the Role
Lumen is evolving its technology organization toward a product operating model. The Senior Manager, Funding, Value & Capacity will establish portfolio practices that connect investment decisions with expected business value, financial planning, delivery capacity, and risk.
Working with Finance and Lean Portfolio Management, this role will create reliable views of funding, demand, benefits, commitments, and capacity across a complex technology portfolio. The position will help leaders evaluate tradeoffs, prioritize investments, and manage situations where demand exceeds available delivery capacity.
The successful candidate will build practical operating processes, improve collaboration between Finance and portfolio teams, and introduce greater consistency in business-case development, value measurement, and portfolio accountability.
## Key Responsibilities
– Maintain an integrated portfolio view covering funding, expected value, delivery capacity, commitments, and financial risk.
– Establish consistent approaches for business cases, benefit definition, and value realization tracking.
– Partner with Finance and Lean Portfolio Management on investment priorities, planning assumptions, financial data, and capacity decisions.
– Develop demand-versus-capacity models using Clarity and related portfolio tools.
– Identify delivery constraints before new commitments are made.
– Support the shift from project-based funding and planning to persistent product teams and value streams.
– Prepare scenarios and executive analyses covering affordability, return, capacity, dependencies, and tradeoffs.
– Improve portfolio financial controls, including allocation tracking, variance analysis, capitalization oversight, and reconciliation with financial systems of record.
– Promote repeatable portfolio standards that improve prioritization, transparency, and accountability.
– Influence leaders and cross-functional partners in a highly matrixed environment.
## Required Skills
– At least 8 years of progressive experience in business transformation, portfolio management, FP&A, technology finance, capacity management, value realization, or a related field.
– Experience linking portfolio funding, expected benefits, resource capacity, and business priorities to enterprise decisions.
– Experience working with Finance or FP&A teams through annual and in-year planning cycles.
– Practical understanding of the relationship between Finance and portfolio operations.
– Experience using Clarity or a comparable portfolio and capacity management platform.
– Strong financial modeling, business-case development, scenario analysis, and benefits-tracking skills.
– Experience supporting technology or software portfolios in a large, complex enterprise.
– Ability to establish new operating disciplines and deliver value in an evolving, highly matrixed organization.
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and relevant experience.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience supporting product operating model transformations, including lean budgeting, persistent product teams, or value-stream funding.
– Background in FP&A, business transformation, portfolio finance, or a financially accountable business portfolio function.
– Knowledge of capitalization, labor accounting, capital governance, and enterprise financial planning.
– Experience with Lean Portfolio Management and cross-functional Technology, Finance, Accounting, and transformation teams.
– Experience with Jira, Jira Product Discovery, or comparable portfolio tools.
– Professional credentials in finance, analytics, portfolio management, or a related discipline.
– Industry experience in telecommunications, technology, cloud, software, or digital infrastructure.
– Track record of creating portfolio standards or models that were adopted and remained effective after implementation.

## Compensation
Anticipated annual base salary ranges are:
– **$132,232–$176,310:** AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, WY
– **$138,844–$185,124:** CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, RI
– **$145,456–$193,940:** AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, WA
