# Pre-Sales Consultant
Amsterdam, NL | Hybrid | Reports to: Pre-Sales leader
## About the Role
This role owns the pre-sales process from early discovery through proposal and handover. Working closely with Sales, Delivery teams, and customers, you will shape opportunities, define scope, and turn requirements into practical, deliverable solutions.
The position focuses on SoftwareOne’s IT Asset Management (ITAM), FinOps, and Software Sourcing services. The goal is to help customers improve visibility, optimise software and cloud spend, and make procurement decisions that are commercially and operationally sound.
You will also contribute pricing inputs, value cases, and statements of work, while helping identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities across the sales cycle.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead discovery and qualification to confirm customer objectives, constraints, stakeholders, timelines, and opportunity viability.
– Translate requirements into solutions, including defining margins for proposals and statements of work.
– Define scope, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and delivery approach with Delivery teams.
– Prepare proposals, pricing inputs, statements of work, value cases, estimates, and supporting documentation.
– Run discovery sessions and workshops, and turn customer needs into clear deliverables.
– Maintain and improve reusable pre-sales materials such as discovery questions, workshop agendas, proposal templates, and standard deliverables.
– Capture lessons learned from bids and engagements to improve future templates and supporting materials.
– Work with Marketing, Bid, and Enablement teams to keep collateral accurate and aligned to service offerings.
– Partner with Sales and Delivery throughout the sales cycle, support account planning, and ensure smooth handover into delivery.
– Act as a subject matter expert in ITAM, FinOps, and software sourcing.
– Support customer meetings, handle objections, and identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
– Monitor industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer insights to strengthen positioning and differentiation.
## Required Skills
– Deep knowledge of IT Asset Management principles, including asset lifecycle management, inventory, governance, compliance, risk, and optimisation outcomes.
– Understanding of how effective ITAM improves visibility, control, and operational efficiency.
– Ability to apply ITAM principles to compliance and cost optimisation initiatives.
– Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, applications, networking, and cloud services.
– Understanding of integrations between ITAM/SAM and ITSM or CMDB platforms.
– Ability to interpret inventory and usage data and assess its impact on reporting, governance, and data quality.
– Experience with ITAM discovery and inventory tools such as ServiceNow, Xensam, Flexera, and Snow.
– Ability to analyse asset and consumption data to identify trends and optimisation opportunities.
– Capability to produce clear, actionable reporting for customers and stakeholders.
– Expertise in software licence management, including optimisation, compliance, and audit support.
– Strong understanding of licensing models including perpetual, subscription, and concurrent licensing.
– Knowledge of licensing terms across key publishers, including Microsoft, and the ability to advise on licence optimisation.
– Strong understanding of FinOps principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and cloud cost management.
– Familiarity with value metrics such as TCO, ROI, NPV, and IRR.
– Experience with FinOps tools and practices including CloudHealth, Cloudability, Azure Cost Management, tagging strategies, and showback/chargeback models.
– Results-oriented and structured approach to discovery, with the ability to lead workshops independently and drive outcomes.
– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to create practical, outcome-focused solutions.
– Analytical and pragmatic approach to working with imperfect data.
– Confident communicator in an international English-speaking environment.
– Ability to build credibility with Procurement, IT, and Finance stakeholders.
– Skilled in presenting, facilitating workshops, and explaining complex concepts clearly.
– Ability to produce structured, customer-ready proposals focused on value and business outcomes.
– Strong understanding of sales processes and the ability to contribute across the full sales cycle.
– Ability to support sales teams with subject matter expertise that drives revenue growth and client acquisition.

– Professional level English and Dutch.
