# Founding Cloud Engineer (FinOps x AI)

## About the Role
This is a founding Cloud Engineer position on a team building an AI-driven platform designed to reduce cloud waste before it happens. FinOps is part of the product itself, not a separate reporting layer, so the role will help define the technical foundations from the start.

The position is based in Amsterdam, with remote or hybrid options available. It suits someone who wants autonomy, ownership, and the chance to shape how cloud engineering and cloud cost optimisation are approached in a greenfield environment.

The role sits within a founding team and offers a clear path for progression, with a runway toward VP of Engineering and/or CTO.

## Key Responsibilities
– Build and ship the core technical foundations for a greenfield AI-driven cloud platform.
– Apply cloud cost optimisation practices to reduce waste before it occurs.
– Help embed FinOps directly into the product.
– Contribute to fast build cycles in an environment with minimal meetings and no legacy debt.
– Challenge assumptions and help raise the technical bar.

## Required Skills
– Proven experience with cloud cost optimisation.
– Experience building foundations and shipping into production.
– Interest in AI and how it is changing cloud engineering.
– Comfort working with autonomy and ownership.
– Willingness to challenge assumptions and raise standards.

## Preferred Skills
– FinOps certification.
– Deep FinOps exposure.
– Strong AWS experience.
– Azure experience is a plus.
– GCP experience is a nice-to-have.

## FinOps Responsibilities
– Build FinOps into the product rather than treating it as a reporting function.

## Benefits
– Base salary of €70,000–€90,000.
– Equity worth around €300,000.
– Potential pay rise of 10%–20% within approximately 6 months.
