## About the Role
This Pre-Sales Consultant role supports the full opportunity lifecycle, from early discovery through proposal and handover. The main focus is to turn customer needs into clearly scoped, deliverable solutions with defined assumptions, dependencies, margins, and commercial terms.
You will work across IT Asset Management (ITAM), FinOps, and Software Sourcing services, helping customers improve visibility, optimise software and cloud spend, and make more effective procurement decisions. The role partners closely with Sales, Delivery, Marketing, Bid, and Enablement teams.
The position is based in London, UK, follows a hybrid working arrangement, and reports to the Pre-Sales leader. Professional-level English is required.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead discovery and qualification to understand customer objectives, constraints, stakeholders, timelines, and opportunity viability.
– Run workshops and shape requirements into clear scope, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and delivery approaches.
– Prepare customer-ready proposals, pricing inputs, statements of work, and related documentation.
– Define deliverables, timelines, responsibilities, and commercial assumptions, including margins for SOW creation.
– Maintain and improve reusable pre-sales assets such as discovery questions, workshop agendas, templates, and standard deliverables.
– Capture lessons learned from bids and engagements to strengthen future proposals and supporting materials.
– Work with Marketing, Bid, and Enablement teams to keep collateral accurate and aligned with service offerings.
– Partner with Sales and Delivery to progress opportunities, support account planning, and ensure smooth handover into delivery.
– Act as a subject matter expert across ITAM, FinOps, and Software Sourcing in customer meetings.
– Handle objections, identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities, and strengthen positioning through market and competitor insight.
## Required Skills
– Deep understanding of ITAM principles, including asset lifecycle management, inventory, governance, compliance, risk, and optimisation outcomes.
– Ability to apply ITAM principles to compliance and cost optimisation initiatives.
– Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, applications, networking, and cloud services.
– Knowledge of integrations between ITAM/SAM and adjacent systems such as ITSM and CMDB platforms.
– Ability to interpret inventory and usage data and assess its impact on reporting, governance, and data quality.
– Experience with ITAM discovery and inventory tools such as ServiceNow, Xensam, Flexera, and Snow.
– Ability to analyse asset and consumption data to identify trends and optimisation opportunities.
– Expertise in software licence management, including optimisation, compliance, and audit support.
– Understanding of licensing models such as perpetual, subscription, and concurrent.
– Knowledge of licensing terms across key publishers, including Microsoft, and the ability to advise on licence optimisation.
– Strong understanding of FinOps principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and cloud cost management.
– Familiarity with TCO, ROI, NPV, and IRR, and the ability to interpret financial data for clients.
– Experience with FinOps tools and practices including CloudHealth, Cloudability, Azure Cost Management, tagging strategies, and showback/chargeback models.
– Results-oriented and structured approach to discovery, with the ability to independently lead workshops and drive outcomes.
– Demonstrated ability to solve complex customer challenges with practical, outcome-focused solutions.
– Analytical and pragmatic approach to working with imperfect data.
– Confident communicator in an international English-speaking environment, with the ability to build credibility with Procurement, IT, and Finance stakeholders.
– Skilled in presenting, facilitating workshops, and explaining complex concepts clearly.
– Ability to produce structured, customer-ready proposals focused on value and business outcomes.
– Strong understanding of sales processes across the full sales cycle.
– Ability to support sales teams with subject matter expertise that contributes to revenue growth and client acquisition.
– Strong awareness of market trends, competitor offerings, and industry developments.
