## About the Role
This role sits on the Foundations team, which owns the shared platform layer used by every engineering group. The team is responsible for reliable, scalable developer infrastructure, SRE capabilities, and high-throughput data ingestion tooling so the organization can move faster as it grows.
The work spans cloud infrastructure, networking, security guardrails, and developer tooling. The objective is to create secure, opinionated defaults that are easy to adopt while keeping reliability high, operations consistent, and cloud spend predictable.
You will work across engineering and research boundaries to solve difficult infrastructure problems and improve the systems that support delivery at scale.
## Key Responsibilities
– Define and maintain standard approaches for cloud projects, networking, and access patterns.
– Build secure defaults and guardrails that guide teams toward the recommended path.
– Design and operate networking foundations, including routing, DNS, load balancing, and connectivity.
– Establish baseline observability and operational practices across services and infrastructure.
– Own developer infrastructure such as build systems, CI/CD, caching, and test infrastructure.
– Improve cloud cost visibility and reduce spend through tooling, guardrails, and optimization.
– Support the broader foundations platform, including scalable developer infrastructure, SRE capabilities, and high-throughput data ingestion tooling.
## Required Skills
– Strong background in infrastructure or platform engineering with experience delivering production systems.
– Deep expertise in at least one of the following: cloud platforms, network engineering, security architecture, or developer tooling.
– Working knowledge across the other areas listed above.
– Ability to operate in complex, multi-team environments and troubleshoot difficult infrastructure issues.
– Experience building for reliability and scale.
– Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-agency environment with a bias toward action.
– Interest in building new systems rather than maintaining legacy platforms.
– Clear, collaborative communication across research and infrastructure teams.

– **FinOps:** FinOps, cloud cost optimization.
## FinOps Responsibilities
– Improve cloud cost visibility through tooling and guardrails.
– Reduce cloud spend through optimization efforts.
