# Business Manager: Fixed Income, Commodities and Core Technology (FICCT)
## About the Role
This role is responsible for bringing greater structure, transparency, and commercial discipline to financial management across the FICCT organisation. It sits at the centre of budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and governance in a complex technology delivery environment.
The position works closely with senior Technology, Finance, and business stakeholders to improve cost visibility, strengthen forecasting, and support better decision-making. The remit covers cloud spend, software licences, contractor and permanent developer costs, project investment, and shared technology services, with a strong focus on improving allocation, efficiency, and financial control.
## Key Responsibilities
– Own financial management for FICCT, including budgeting, forecasting, month-end tracking, variance analysis, and executive reporting.
– Improve cost allocation approaches so technology spend can be linked to business drivers, products, platforms, functions, or consuming business units.
– Oversee major technology cost categories, including cloud infrastructure, software licences, vendor spend, developer tooling, and external resources.
– Build and maintain bottoms-up forecasts for headcount, project delivery, BAU costs, and investment spend.
– Analyse spend patterns and cost drivers, then turn findings into recommendations on efficiency, investment prioritisation, and resource use.
– Produce clear management reporting for senior stakeholders covering budgets, forecasts, actuals, headcount, project spend, unit costs, and key financial KPIs.
– Partner with Technology leadership, Finance, Operations, and business stakeholders to challenge assumptions and support decisions with credible analysis.
– Establish lightweight but rigorous financial governance, including spend controls, investment tracking, business case support, and audit-ready documentation.
– Improve manual reporting and planning processes through automation, dashboarding, and better use of data and tooling.
## Required Skills
– Background in Business Management, Technology Finance, COO, FP&A, or a similar role supporting Technology organisations.
– Experience working in an investment bank, hedge fund, asset manager, or similarly complex environment.
– Deep experience managing technology budgets and forecasts, including cloud costs, software spend, headcount, contractor costs, and project investment.
– Proven ability to design and implement cost allocation models tied to business drivers, consumption metrics, or product/platform usage.
– Strong understanding of forecasting, variance analysis, unit economics, and cost optimisation within a Technology organisation.
– Experience producing high-quality management information and presenting insights credibly to senior stakeholders.
– Strong stakeholder management skills across Technology, Finance, Operations, and the business.
– Strong analytical skills and experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple source systems.
## Preferred Skills
– Familiarity with cloud financial management / FinOps principles and tooling.
– Experience with dashboarding and reporting tools.
– Exposure to process automation using Python, SQL, AI tools, or low-code platforms.
– Experience in environments with significant regulatory, governance, or audit requirements.
– Knowledge of Fixed Income, Commodities, or broader Markets technology environments.

– Manage and monitor cloud and wider technology spend.
– Improve cost allocation so spend can be tied to business drivers and consumption.
– Build forecasts for headcount, project delivery, BAU costs, and investment spend.
– Identify optimisation opportunities across cloud infrastructure, software licences, vendor spend, developer tooling, and external resources.
– Track benefits from optimisation activity and support cost-efficiency initiatives.
– Support unit cost and unit economics analysis.
– Strengthen spend controls, investment tracking, and governance around technology financial management.
– Improve visibility through reporting, dashboarding, and automation.
