As a Multi-Cloud FinOps Specialist within our Managed Services Provider (MSP) division, you will occupy a critical bridge between cloud operations, finance, and client success. Your mission is two-fold: ensuring our operational inventory perfectly aligns with our contractual obligations (preventing uncompensated service delivery) and acting as a strategic advisor to help our clients maximize the value of their cloud investment.
Key Responsibilities
1. MSP Operational Excellence: Inventory & Scope Governance
Contractual Reconciliation:
Perform quarterly audits to ensure the cloud resource inventory (AWS, Azure, GCP) matches the assets listed in the Client Service Agreement.
Revenue Leakage Prevention:
Identify “Scope Creep” by detecting new or unmapped resources that the MSP is managing but not yet charging for under the current management fee.
Asset Lifecycle Management:
Monitor the lifecycle of resources from provisioning to decommissioning to ensure the MSP is only responsible for active, contracted Configuration Items (CIs).
Tagging Policy Enforcement:
Design and enforce a cross-cloud tagging taxonomy to ensure 100% visibility into which resources belong to which contract, business unit, or service tier.
Commitment Utilization:
Oversee the allocation of Reserved Instances (RIs) and Savings Plans across the multi-tenant environment to ensure contractual performance targets are met.
2. Client Value Delivery: Cost Optimization & Advisory
Right-Sizing & Modernization:
Analyze client usage patterns to provide actionable recommendations for downsizing over-provisioned resources or moving to more cost-effective instance families.
Waste Elimination:
Automate the identification and removal of orphaned resources, such as unattached storage volumes, old snapshots, and idle load balancers.
Strategic Reporting:
Develop and present “Showback” or “Chargeback” reports that provide clients with a clear view of their spending by department, project, or application.
Anomaly Detection:
Configure and monitor real-time spend alerts to protect clients from “bill shock” caused by misconfigurations or unauthorized resource spikes.
Consolidate billing/usage multi cloud data into a unified view to support governance, forecasting, and executive reporting.
Required Experience & Skills
Professional Experience:
3–5 years in Cloud Operations, IT Asset Management (ITAM), or Cloud Financial Management, preferably within an MSP or System Integrator environment.
Multi-Cloud Proficiency:
Deep functional knowledge of billing constructs and resource management across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, focusing on cloud cost management / FinOps / cloud operations / cloud billing analytics (multi‑cloud preferred). Ability to normalise and explain usage and cost drivers across
Technical Literacy:
Proficiency in using cloud-native tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
Data Analysis:
Strong ability to manipulate large datasets using Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query) or SQL to identify inventory discrepancies.
Governance Mindset:
Strong understanding of ITIL processes, particularly Service Configuration Management and Financial Management for IT Services.
Prior MSP / service provider exposure (billing reconciliation, agreements, governance) strongly preferred.
Strong stakeholder management across Finance/Engineering/Service Delivery; ability to influence decisions using data.
