# Lead Specialist Cloud FinOps

## About the Role

This hybrid role is based in Bangalore, India, and follows a USA shift (6:30 PM IST to 3:30 AM IST). It sits within Pearson’s Cloud FinOps team as part of a global Centre of Excellence focused on cloud cost transparency and optimization across a multi-cloud estate.

The position exists to turn cloud usage and billing data into financial insights that support business decisions. You will work with global cross-functional teams, Cloud Governance, management, and senior leaders to improve reporting, strengthen data flow processes, and support FinOps goals.

The role also contributes to forecasting, optimization, and reporting cycles, while helping identify opportunities for targeted automation and data-driven decision-making.

## Key Responsibilities

– Produce reports for multi-cloud platforms that can be shared with and acted on by management and senior leaders.
– Partner with global cross-functional teams to gather requirements, align priorities, and deliver data insights.
– Support FinOps goal and KPI setting, data retrieval, and data modeling.
– Work with Cloud Governance to map data process flows and create a single source of data for FinOps.
– Analyze and forecast cloud hosting costs.
– Recommend cloud cost optimization actions.
– Create and maintain month-end and quarter-end reports.
– Apply Agile methods to planning and execution.
– Use tools and technology to support data-driven decisions.
– Gather requirements for targeted automation projects and evaluate solutions based on fit, upskilling needs, team skillsets, cost, and short- and long-term strategy.

## Required Skills

– Python data analytics skills.
– Power BI development experience.
– Experience with a cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
– Experience with cloud billing and cost management tools.
– Knowledge of FinOps commitment strategies, including enterprise-wide discount programs, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, and Sustained Use/Committed Use Discounts.
– Agentic AI experience.
– Advanced Excel skills.
– Knowledge of financial principles and business analytics.
– Strong collaboration skills for global, cross-functional work.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team while delivering strong customer service.
– Understanding of application development environments, databases, data management, and infrastructure capabilities and constraints.
– Ability to analyze large datasets and produce meaningful insights.
– Strong analytical background with the ability to understand technology.
– Undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science, management information systems, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
– 7+ years of experience in IT, business analytics, project management, or technology finance.

## Preferred Skills

– Experience with third-party cloud cost optimization tools such as Cloudability.
– Understanding of database and big data environments, including RDBMS, NoSQL, and data lakes.
– Experience developing or managing automation with object-oriented languages such as Java or Python.
– Experience using AWS services such as S3 and Lambda to build automated solutions.
– Experience using REST APIs to extract and/or post data.
– Understanding of how to build and deploy Agentic solutions.
– Azure, GCP, or AWS certifications.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Support cloud cost transparency and optimization across a multi-cloud estate.
– Analyze and forecast cloud hosting costs.
– Provide cost optimization recommendations.
– Produce month-end and quarter-end financial reporting for cloud spend.
– Support goal and KPI setting for the FinOps function.
– Retrieve and model data for cloud financial analysis.
– Work with Cloud Governance to establish a single source of data for FinOps.
– Support enterprise-wide discount programs and commitment plans, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, and Sustained Use/Committed Use Discounts.
– Contribute to targeted automation efforts that improve cloud financial operations.
