# Lead Specialist Cloud FinOps

## About the Role

This role sits within Pearson’s Cloud FinOps team as part of a global Centre of Excellence focused on cloud cost transparency and optimisation across a multi-cloud environment. The position exists to collect and analyse data that supports cloud financial insight and business decision-making.

You will work closely with management, senior leaders, global cross-functional teams, and the Cloud Governance team to improve reporting, data flows, and financial visibility. The role also supports goal-setting, KPI tracking, modelling, and cost optimisation across cloud hosting.

This is a hybrid position based in Bangalore, India, with a US working shift from 6:30 PM IST to 3:30 AM IST.

## Key Responsibilities

– Produce multi-cloud reports for management and senior leadership.
– Gather requirements from global stakeholders and convert them into actionable data insights.
– Support the FinOps team with KPI setting, data retrieval, and modelling.
– Work with Cloud Governance to map data processes and establish a single source of truth for FinOps data.
– Analyse and forecast cloud hosting costs.
– Recommend cloud cost optimisation opportunities.
– Prepare month-end and quarter-end reports.
– Use Agile practices for planning and delivery.
– Apply data-driven methods and tools to support decision-making.
– Define requirements for automation initiatives and assess possible solutions based on fit, skill needs, cost, and short- and long-term strategy.

## Required Skills

– Python data analytics skills.
– Power BI development experience.
– Experience with a cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
– Experience with cloud billing and cost management tools.
– Knowledge of FinOps commitment strategies, including enterprise discount programs, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, Sustained Use Discounts, and Committed Use Discounts.
– Experience with Agentic AI.
– Advanced Excel skills.
– Understanding of financial principles and business analytics.
– Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a global environment.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

– Understanding of application development environments, databases, data management, and infrastructure constraints.
– Ability to analyse large datasets and turn them into meaningful insights.

## Preferred Skills

– Experience with third-party cloud cost optimisation tools such as Cloudability.
– Understanding of database and big data environments, including RDBMS, NoSQL, and data lakes.
– Experience building or managing automation with object-oriented languages such as Java or Python.
– Experience using AWS services such as S3 and Lambda for automated solutions.
– Experience using REST APIs to extract or post data.
– Experience building and deploying Agentic solutions.
– Azure, GCP, or AWS certifications.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Deliver reporting that improves cloud cost transparency across a multi-cloud estate.
– Analyse and forecast cloud hosting spend.
– Provide cost optimisation recommendations.
– Support KPI definition, data retrieval, and modelling for the FinOps function.
– Work with Cloud Governance to create consistent data flows and a single source of data.
– Maintain month-end and quarter-end reporting.
– Evaluate commitment and discount strategies, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, Sustained Use Discounts, and Committed Use Discounts.
– Support targeted automation efforts that improve FinOps processes and insight generation.
