# FP&A Manager, Product
## About the Role
We are seeking an FP&A Manager for our Finance team at Vercel. In this role, you will serve as the financial lead for our Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) organizations. Your primary focus will be on operational expense (OpEx) and headcount planning while building systems that enhance visibility and facilitate informed decision-making. Collaborating closely with Engineering leadership, the People team, and Strategic Finance, you will help ensure that investments are intentional, efficient, and aligned with our long-term strategy.
This position plays a critical role in driving workforce planning, modeling infrastructure economics, evaluating financial tradeoffs, and implementing scalable financial controls. Your efforts will significantly impact the efficiency and strategic alignment of our investments.
## Key Responsibilities
– **Investment Management**: Oversee OpEx and headcount budgets across EPD, ensuring alignment with company strategy while adhering to spend and margin targets.
– **Workforce Planning**: Create comprehensive headcount models by function and level, collaborating with Engineering leaders to align hiring with business needs.
– **Financial Modeling**: Develop forecasting models that analyze cloud hosting, AI/compute, internal tooling, SaaS applications, and enterprise systems, identifying optimization opportunities.
– **Financial Tradeoffs**: Assess build vs. buy decisions, R&D capitalization, and vendor investments, providing recommendations based on ROI and cost structure impact.
– **Budget Oversight**: Conduct monthly budget vs. actual reviews for EPD, enhancing reporting automation and accuracy, and delivering actionable insights.
– **Financial Controls**: Design and implement approval workflows for headcount and vendor expenditure, ensuring efficiency and transparency while utilizing automation to minimize bottlenecks.
## Required Skills
– Proven experience supporting Engineering teams and understanding operational infrastructure’s financial implications.
– Strong knowledge of cloud economics, AI/compute scaling, and enterprise tooling cost drivers.
– Extensive experience in workforce planning and managing headcount models across departments.
– Advanced skills in financial modeling, including scenario-driven models and sensitivity analysis.
– Detail-oriented and systems-focused approach to forecasting and process improvement.

The base salary for this role in San Francisco, CA is between $180,000.00 and $220,000.00, with actual salary depending on job-related skills and experience. Compensation adjustments apply for positions outside San Francisco.
