## About the Role
ZoomInfo is hiring a FinOps Engineer to join its centralized FinOps team within the Infrastructure Engineering group. The role exists to support cloud financial governance across an enterprise-scale, multi-cloud environment by improving cost efficiency, accountability, and visibility.
This position focuses on optimizing spend across GCP and AWS, as well as third-party technology stacks. You will work closely with engineering teams to identify savings opportunities, strengthen tagging and allocation practices, and implement automated controls that help keep environments efficient by default.
The role also supports broader financial transparency through dashboards, reporting, forecasting, and unit-economics analysis. It requires close collaboration with engineering, finance, and procurement stakeholders to embed FinOps principles into technical and operational decisions.
## Key Responsibilities
– Drive cost optimization across GCP and AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and data services.
– Track AI usage and spend across multiple providers, including Anthropic and OpenAI.
– Build and automate FinOps guardrails such as budget alerts, anomaly detection, and rightsizing recommendations.
– Design and enforce tagging and allocation frameworks for accurate cost attribution, showback/chargeback, budgeting, forecasting, and unit-economics reporting.
– Manage commitment-based discount programs, including Committed Use Discounts, Savings Plans, and Reserved Instances.
– Partner with engineering teams to review and re-architect workloads for improved cost efficiency.
– Develop dashboards, reports, and forecasts that explain spend trends, cost drivers, and optimization ROI.
– Govern third-party SaaS and technology spend by evaluating, right-sizing, and consolidating vendor costs.
– Establish FinOps standards, best practices, and self-service tooling that scale financial accountability across the organization.
## Required Skills
– 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or FinOps, with a strong focus on cost optimization and governance.
– Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider, either GCP or AWS.
– Strong understanding of cloud architecture, services, and pricing models across compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
– Experience building and managing automated FinOps alerting, including anomaly detection, budget thresholds, forecast thresholds, alert routing, and tuning.
– Familiarity with tracking AI model usage and spend across multiple LLM providers, including token-based pricing, provider usage and billing APIs, and attribution of AI cost to teams or products.
– Proficiency with cloud cost-management tools such as GCP Billing/BigQuery billing exports, AWS Cost Explorer/CUR, CloudHealth, or similar third-party platforms.
– Proficiency in SQL.
– Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with Python preferred.
– Experience building dashboards and reports in Looker, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar tools.
– Strong communication skills and the ability to influence engineering and finance stakeholders without direct authority.
– Financial and engineering fluency, including the ability to translate technical architecture decisions into financial impact and financial goals into technical action.
– Analytical rigor and comfort working with large datasets to surface insights, quantify opportunities, and prioritize by impact.
– Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
– A bias toward automation and scalable solutions.
– Clear communication skills for presenting complex cost data and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Relevant cloud certifications.
