## About the Role

The FinOps Specialist will support a reference project in the public sector focused on the financial efficiency of cloud infrastructure. The role exists to help manage, analyse, and optimise cloud-related costs, turning consumption data into practical actions that improve budget control and reduce waste.

This position works at the intersection of technical teams and finance stakeholders, with responsibility for identifying overspending, highlighting underused or oversized cloud resources, and supporting cost-optimisation decisions. The work is centred on improving visibility into cloud consumption and strengthening financial governance across the environment.

The role sits within Smart Consulting’s broader consulting environment and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. It is suited to someone who can combine analytical rigour with hands-on FinOps experience to support more efficient cloud usage.

## Key Responsibilities

– Analyse, monitor, and optimise cloud infrastructure costs
– Identify oversized or underutilised cloud resources
– Support budget control and consumption monitoring through alerts and related controls
– Prepare analytical reporting for chargeback and showback, including cost analysis by cost centre
– Define and implement strategies to reduce cloud waste and improve cost efficiency
– Work with technical and finance teams to maintain control over cloud consumption
– Contribute to financial performance tracking and deviation analysis

## Required Skills

– Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in FinOps or a related cloud financial management role
– Experience in analysing, monitoring, and optimising cloud infrastructure costs
– Experience producing chargeback and showback reports with cost-centre analysis
– Experience configuring consumption alerts and budget controls
– Ability to identify oversized or underutilised cloud resources
– Experience defining and implementing cost optimisation and waste-reduction strategies
– Strong analytical skills

– FinOps certification, which is mandatory

## Preferred Skills

– Experience implementing FinOps practices and processes in cloud environments
