# Financial Controller
## About the Role
Respire is hiring a Financial Controller to strengthen its Finance team. The role ensures the reliability of the figures used for analysis, decision-making, and investor reporting, with a particular focus on gross margin reconciliations, receivables, and closings. It sits at the intersection of accounting, management control, and data in a fast-growing business.
The role reports to the Lead Finance and works closely with the Finance & Business Analyst, the accounting intern, and the external accounting firm handling outsourced bookkeeping. In the first year, around half of the role is hands-on accounting and data validation. As accounting is brought in-house and a senior accounting manager joins in 2027, the scope shifts further toward controlling, margin analysis by channel and country, receivables and working capital, multi-entity consolidation, and process structuring.
## Key Responsibilities
– Own the reliability of P&L figures, including gross margin (CM1) reconciliations, stock valuation, and consistency between management and accounting data.
– Reconcile revenue and cash collections across e-commerce and B2B channels.
– Manage the monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable between Odoo and Pennylane.
– Ensure automated controls built with the data team are working correctly.
– Oversee and improve automated customer account matching and the aged receivables ledger, supporting the accounting intern you will supervise.
– Manage the day-to-day relationship with the external accounting firm.
– Own Pennylane administration, including automation rules, connectivity, and ongoing optimization.
– Prepare supplier payment runs in line with internal control procedures.
– Coordinate quarterly and annual closes, including planning with the accounting firm, issue tracking, variance review, and audit support.
– Lead the e-invoicing project on the issuance side ahead of the September 2027 regulatory deadline.
– Contribute to management control work with the Finance & Business Analyst, including budget reviews and margin tracking.
– Take part in data, tools, and AI initiatives focused on automation.
– Support the reliability of international subsidiary accounts, including multi-entity and multi-currency processes, with local providers.
## Required Skills
– Master’s degree (BAC+5) from a business school, IAE, or a specialized master’s in audit, finance, or management control.
– 2–3 years of experience in Transaction Services, broad-based management control in a fast-growing young company, or Big 4 audit.
– Strong accounting fluency, including the ability to read a trial balance, understand reconciliations, and challenge an external accounting firm.
– Advanced Excel skills.
– Rigorous, resourceful, and autonomous, with a habit of documenting what you implement.
– Clear, structured communication, including with non-finance stakeholders.
– Entrepreneurial mindset and a strong sense of initiative.
– Highly motivated and positive.
