## About the Role

The Commercial FinOps Lead will be responsible for building and owning a commercial FinOps function from the ground up. Based in India, this senior role focuses on cloud and SaaS vendor management, cost visibility, optimization, and procurement governance.

The position sits at the intersection of finance, engineering, legal, and operations. It is expected to define operating models, reporting frameworks, and processes that improve accountability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.

This is a global, remote, and asynchronous role with regular collaboration across internal teams and external partners. The main objective is to bring structure, transparency, and strategic discipline to vendor spend management.

## Key Responsibilities

– Manage end-to-end relationships with major cloud and SaaS vendors, including negotiations, renewals, commercial discussions, and strategic partnerships.
– Lead procurement governance activities, including competitive bidding, benchmarking, approval frameworks, and oversight of managed procurement partners.
– Drive FinOps initiatives focused on spend visibility, cost optimization, unit economics, licensing efficiency, and tooling consolidation.
– Build and maintain vendor cost reporting, dashboards, and governance frameworks.
– Partner with engineering teams to track cloud efficiency initiatives and ensure savings are identified, measured, and realized.
– Establish standards, processes, and operating models for the commercial function.
– Serve as the main connection point between finance, legal, engineering teams, and external technology providers.

## Required Skills

– 5+ years of experience in vendor management, commercial operations, procurement, FinOps, or technical/financial analysis in a senior ownership role.
– Proven experience managing vendor relationships, contract negotiations, renewals, and commercial optimization initiatives.
– Strong understanding of procurement governance, including competitive bids, benchmarks, approval workflows, and vendor performance management.
– Ability to analyze cloud and SaaS spend data, identify optimization opportunities, and turn insights into business action.
– Hands-on experience building cost dashboards and reporting using SQL, business intelligence tools, or similar analytical platforms.
– Familiarity with cloud platforms, SaaS billing models, licensing structures, and technology cost management.
– Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
– High ownership, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
– Experience working in remote, distributed, or asynchronous environments.
– Ability to thrive in ambiguity and build processes, systems, and functions from the ground up.
