## About the Role
La Caisse is hiring a Principal FinOps Designer to join the Service Reliability team in Montreal. The role serves as the technical and methodological lead for the FinOps framework, with responsibility for shaping and advancing practices that strengthen cost accountability across the organization.
The position is focused on embedding a sustainable FinOps culture that supports technology decisions, reliability, and performance. It works across platform and product teams to improve cost visibility, support governance, and enable ongoing optimization.
This role contributes directly to investment and prioritization decisions, including technology planning, migrations, and other structural initiatives. It also provides complementary Cloud Cost Management expertise to help identify practical optimization opportunities when relevant.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and evolve the FinOps framework, including practices, governance, metrics, and tooling
– Scale FinOps across the organization through cost visibility, showback, continuous optimization, and decision trade-offs
– Serve as the FinOps reference point for platform and product teams to support autonomy and adoption
– Ensure cost data used in IT and executive decisions is accurate, consistent, and credible
– Contribute to FinOps governance forums and support strategic decisions related to IT prioritization, investments, and migrations
– Provide Cloud Cost Management expertise to inform technical decisions and identify optimization opportunities when appropriate
## Required Skills
– University degree in information technology, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
– 5 years of relevant experience in a FinOps framework, including culture, governance, and continuous improvement
– Experience working with teams at different levels of FinOps maturity
– Strong understanding of cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure, including cloud cost management models
– Knowledge of analytics platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake
– Knowledge of Datadog and other observability tools
– Ability to translate costs into actionable decisions
– Systems thinking across cost, reliability, performance, and technical debt
– Strong written and spoken French and English
– Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing with external partners located outside Quebec
