## About the Role
Within the Service Reliability team, this position serves as the technical and methodological lead for the FinOps framework. The role exists to design, implement, and continuously improve FinOps practices that support long-term cost accountability across the organization.
The mandate is to embed FinOps principles into technology decision-making, with a focus on reliability and performance. The person in this role will work closely with platform and product teams, as well as governance forums, to strengthen adoption and support informed investment, prioritization, and migration decisions.
A key part of the role is ensuring that cost data used in technical and executive decision-making is accurate, consistent, and credible. The position also brings complementary Cloud Cost Management expertise to identify practical optimization opportunities when relevant.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and evolve the FinOps framework, including practices, governance, indicators, and tooling
– Operationalize FinOps at organizational scale through visibility, showback, continuous optimization, and trade-off management
– Act as the FinOps reference point for platform and product teams to support autonomy and sustained adoption
– Ensure the quality, consistency, and credibility of cost data used in IT and executive decisions
– Contribute to FinOps governance forums and support strategic decisions related to IT prioritization, investments, and migrations
– Apply Cloud Cost Management expertise to support technical decisions and identify concrete optimization opportunities when appropriate
## Required Skills
– University degree in information technology, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
– 5+ years of relevant experience in a FinOps framework, including culture, governance, and continuous improvement
– Comfortable working with teams at different levels of FinOps maturity
– Strong understanding of cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure, including their cost models
– Knowledge of analytical platforms, including Databricks and Snowflake
– Knowledge of Datadog and other observability tools
– Ability to translate cost information into actionable decisions
– Systems-level perspective spanning cost, reliability, performance, and technical debt
– Strong written and spoken French and English
– Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing with external partners based outside Quebec
