# FinOps Lead

## About the Role

A growing financial technology business is seeking a FinOps Lead to establish and manage its cloud financial management capability as its cloud platform scales.

The role sits between Engineering, Finance, and Product, with responsibility for improving cloud cost visibility, optimisation, forecasting, and governance. You will combine technical knowledge of AWS with commercial understanding to help engineering teams make informed decisions about cloud consumption.

This is a hands-on opportunity to introduce FinOps practices, improve accountability, and support cloud investment decisions across the organisation.

## Key Responsibilities

– Own cloud cost management and optimisation across the organisation.
– Monitor AWS consumption and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary spend.
– Develop tagging and cost allocation standards.
– Implement showback and chargeback models.
– Manage Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and other cloud commercial commitments.
– Partner with Engineering and Finance on cloud forecasting and investment decisions.
– Establish FinOps governance, reporting, and operating processes.
– Introduce and manage cloud cost-management tooling.
– Improve visibility and accountability for cloud consumption.
– Embed FinOps best practices across the organisation.

## Required Skills

– Proven experience managing significant cloud spend within AWS or another large-scale public cloud environment.
– Strong understanding of AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
– Experience identifying and delivering meaningful cloud cost savings.
– Knowledge of Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and cloud pricing models.
– Experience with FinOps or cloud cost-management tools.
– Strong understanding of tagging and cost allocation.
– Experience implementing showback and/or chargeback frameworks.
– Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with cloud consumption and financial data.
– Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Finance, and Product.
– Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.

## Preferred Skills

– Experience establishing or significantly improving a FinOps capability within a scaling technology organisation.
– Background as a FinOps Lead, FinOps Manager, Cloud FinOps Manager, Cloud Cost Optimisation Lead, Cloud Economics Manager, or Senior FinOps Analyst ready to take greater ownership.
