# Technology & Cost Management Manager
**Location:** New York, NY
**Work Arrangement:** Hybrid — three days per week in the New York office, with remote work available on remaining days
**Base Salary:** $125,000–$165,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location. Certain positions may also qualify for short-term incentives.
## About the Role
The Technology & Cost Management Manager oversees the financial governance of technology services, including cost allocation, chargeback management, budgeting, reporting, and vendor performance monitoring.
Working across Finance, Technology, business units, Procurement, vendors, and auditors, this role ensures technology spending is transparent, accurately allocated, well documented, and aligned with organizational financial objectives.
The position provides financial analysis and strategic recommendations to improve cost efficiency, evaluate technology investments, strengthen governance, and support informed decision-making.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and manage chargeback models that allocate infrastructure, software, and technology service costs to business units.
– Develop consistent and transparent cost allocation methodologies.
– Support annual technology budgeting and forecasting processes.
– Monitor expenditure against approved budgets, investigate variances, and recommend corrective action.
– Define and track vendor KPIs and SLAs.
– Conduct vendor performance reviews and maintain scorecards against contractual obligations.
– Analyze cost and vendor data to identify trends, risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
– Prepare cost reports, dashboards, chargeback summaries, and leadership recommendations.
– Address business-unit questions regarding technology charges and resolve allocation disputes.
– Collaborate with IT teams to understand service cost drivers and maintain accurate calculations.
– Coordinate with Finance on reporting standards, budgets, and financial strategy.
– Partner with Procurement, vendors, and service providers on invoices, purchasing decisions, contracts, and negotiations.
– Develop policies and governance processes for technology service charges and expenses.
– Streamline and automate allocation, chargeback, and reporting activities where possible.
– Recommend optimization initiatives, including service consolidation and vendor contract renegotiation.
– Evaluate the financial impact and return on investment of technology investments.
– Maintain auditable documentation and support internal and external audits.
– Provide line management, coaching, performance development, and direction to colleagues in accordance with organizational policies and values.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
– Extensive experience in financial management, cost accounting, or chargeback processes.
– Demonstrated experience managing cost allocation and chargeback models in complex organizations.
– Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial governance.
– Experience with financial tools and enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERP platforms.
– Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools, including Excel and Power BI.
– Understanding of IT service management frameworks and their financial implications.
– Ability to translate financial and operational objectives into cost allocation and optimization strategies.
– Experience guiding cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across IT, Finance, and business units.
– Ability to explain complex financial concepts, resolve disputes, and build consensus.
– Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
– Detail-oriented and compliance-focused, with an emphasis on audit readiness.
– Commitment to continuous improvement, process automation, and measurable cost-management outcomes.
