Join our collaborative team as
a Manager FinOps Performance & Governance
and play a key role in advancing Thermo Fisher Scientific’s cloud financial management capabilities. In this role, you will lead a small team of FinOps analysts while helping the organization make
data-driven decisions that optimize cloud and infrastructure investments across a hybrid environment (public cloud, private cloud, and on-prem).
You will drive the evolution of our FinOps practice beyond cost optimization into
cost transparency, allocation, forecasting, and business accountability

cost, performance, and business value

Partnering closely with Engineering, Finance, Operations, and business stakeholders, you will build and operationalize
showback and chargeback models
, improve cost attribution, and enhance visibility into unit economics and cost-to-serve.
As a leader in FinOps, you will oversee the development of scalable reporting and analytics solutions, ensure high-quality cost data, and establish
governance, standards, and best practices
aligned with the FinOps Framework. You will also play a key role in driving a
FinOps culture of accountability and ownership
across the organization.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Lead a team that analyzes and manages costs and consumption across public cloud, private cloud, and on-prem infrastructure
Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities to improve cost efficiency and resource utilization
Build and oversee dashboards and reporting that provide transparency into spend, usage, and value
Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure cost-efficient architecture and resource management
Guide deep-dive analyses into cloud usage to reduce waste and optimize investments (e.g., rightsizing, commitments, scheduling)
Drive regular governance forums to review spend, forecast variance, and optimization opportunities with stakeholders
Translate complex cost and usage data into clear, actionable insights for leadership
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and develop a small team of FinOps analysts, fostering growth, accountability, and continuous improvement
Develop and mature FinOps capabilities, including:
Cost allocation and tagging strategy
Showback and chargeback models
Budgeting and forecasting processes
Unit economics and cost-to-serve analysis
Establish and maintain cloud cost management strategies across hybrid environments
Perform and oversee deep-dive analyses on usage and cost trends to identify inefficiencies and optimization opportunities
Lead cost visualization and reporting initiatives to ensure transparency and data-driven decision-making
Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, and Operations to define and enforce governance, tagging, and cost accountability practices
Provide architectural and strategic recommendations to improve cost efficiency and support business initiatives
Communicate spend trends, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders
Support integration and evolution of financial and cloud cost management systems, ensuring data quality and integrity
Drive adoption of FinOps best practices and help scale a FinOps culture across the organization
REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor’s Degree plus 8 years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, data analytics, or related field
Preferred Fields of Study: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional certification strongly preferred
2–4 years of people management or team leadership experience
Experience supporting cloud and infrastructure cost management across hybrid environments (public cloud, private cloud, on-prem)
Strong experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, OptiX, CloudZero, etc.)
Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
Strong understanding of:
Cost allocation, tagging strategies, and governance
Showback/chargeback methodologies
Budgeting and forecasting for cloud spend
Cost optimization techniques (e.g., RI/SPs, autoscaling, rightsizing)
Experience collaborating with technical teams on cost optimization and architecture decisions
Experience integrating cost data with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle preferred)
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect technology spend to business value
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, global organization
Travel up to 25% as required
