Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced FinOps Practitioner / FinOps Expert to drive cloud financial management, cost optimization, and governance across large-scale Azure and/or AWS environments. The role will partner closely with engineering, architecture, procurement, finance, and leadership teams to ensure cost transparency, accountability, and business value realization from cloud investments, with a strong focus on PaaS services, advanced FinOps controls, and enterprise governance models.
Key Responsibilities
FinOps Strategy & Governance
Define and implement FinOps operating models (centralized, decentralized, hybrid) aligned to business units
Establish FinOps governance frameworks, including chargeback/showback, budget ownership, and cost accountability
Drive FinOps maturity assessments and roadmap execution across the organization
Create and manage cloud financial KPIs, dashboards, and executive reports
Cloud Cost Optimization & Controls
Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities across IaaS and PaaS services
Enforce FinOps policies, guardrails, and tagging standards for cost allocation and optimization
Design and manage budgeting, forecasting, and anomaly detection mechanisms
Enable advanced controls such as: rightsizing and commitment management (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans); spend anomaly detection and alerts; idle resource identification and decommissioning; license optimization and hybrid benefit usage
Azure & AWS FinOps Expertise
Deep hands-on expertise in Azure Cost Management + Billing and/or AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets, CUR
Optimize costs across services including (but not limited to): IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and AI services
Advanced mechanisms like changing resource types, regions, services alternatives, licensing optimization
Azure App Services, Functions, AKS, SQL MI, Azure Storage
AWS Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3
Advise architecture teams on cost-efficient cloud and PaaS design patterns
Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Act as the bridge between Finance, Engineering, and Cloud Platform teams
Enable product and delivery teams with cost-awareness and FinOps best practices
Drive FinOps culture adoption through training, workshops, and enablement programs
Automation & Tooling
Drive automation for cost controls, alerts, and reporting
Experience with any third-party FinOps tools is a plus (e.g., Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth, along with Cloud native FinOps platforms etc.)
Required Skills & Competencies
Core FinOps Skills
Strong expertise in FinOps principles, phases (Inform, Optimize, Operate), and personas
Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, chargeback/showback
Advanced understanding of public cloud pricing models and saving mechanisms in IaaS, PaaS, Serverless, Licensing optimizations
Cloud Platforms
Knowhow of Azure and/or AWS (mandatory)
Strong understanding of Cloud financial optimization
Experience working with enterprise-scale cloud environments
Certifications (Mandatory)
FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) OR FinOps Certified Professional (FOCPRO)
Certifications (Added Advantage)
Azure: AZ-104, AZ-305, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
AWS: AWS Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional
Other cloud or cost management certifications are a plus
