Bengaluru | Full-time | Mid-Senior level | 6+ years
## About the Role
This role supports cloud financial management in a software development environment, with a focus on improving efficiency across large-scale cloud usage. The position exists to strengthen FinOps practices, reduce cloud waste, and help the business make better decisions about cloud spend without affecting performance, scalability, security, or reliability.
The role works closely with Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, Finance, Procurement, Product, and senior leadership. It requires someone who can connect technical cloud usage with financial analysis and translate that into practical actions and reporting.
The main objective is to build scalable FinOps processes, improve visibility into cloud costs, and create stronger governance around cloud consumption, allocation, and optimization.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead FinOps implementation and ongoing improvement across AWS, Azure, GCP, and multi-cloud environments.
– Analyze cloud usage, billing, and spend patterns to identify optimization opportunities.
– Develop and apply cost optimization strategies across compute, storage, databases, networking, containers, Kubernetes, and managed cloud services.
– Establish governance policies, budgets, forecasts, and spending controls.
– Build dashboards and reporting to track cloud spend, usage trends, unit economics, and optimization outcomes.
– Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, Finance, Procurement, and Product teams to embed FinOps practices into daily operations.
– Drive rightsizing, resource scheduling, reserved capacity, savings plans, commitment management, workload optimization, and resource lifecycle management.
– Define and monitor FinOps metrics such as spend, forecast variance, utilization, savings, unit cost, and cost avoidance.
– Set up tagging, allocation, chargeback, and showback models to improve cost ownership.
– Investigate anomalies and unexpected cost increases with technical teams.
– Advise senior leadership on cloud financial performance and longer-term optimization opportunities.
– Mentor engineers and FinOps practitioners and promote cloud cost awareness across the organization.
## Required Skills
– 6–12 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud financial management, FinOps, DevOps, SRE, or a related field.
– Strong understanding of cloud cost structures and pricing models across major cloud platforms.
– Hands-on experience with Cloud FinOps, FinOps, and cost optimization practices.
– Strong analytical ability to interpret cloud billing and usage data.
– Experience with cloud cost management, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and optimization.
– Understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure utilization, and resource consumption patterns.
– Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
– Ability to work across technical and business teams.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps certification or equivalent practical experience.
– Experience with FinOps tools and cloud-native cost management platforms.
– Knowledge of Kubernetes and container cost optimization.
– Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and cloud governance frameworks.
– Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud cost management.
– Knowledge of chargeback, showback, unit economics, and cloud cost allocation models.
– Experience implementing automated cost controls and optimization workflows.
– Familiarity with FinOps Framework principles and cloud financial operations best practices.
