# Sr. Cloud FinOps Expert
## About the Role
This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on reducing cloud spend, improving financial visibility, and supporting better decision-making across cloud environments. The position connects engineering and finance by turning cloud usage data into actionable financial insights and helping ensure cloud consumption is efficient and accountable.
You will work closely with engineering, finance, operations, DevOps, and business teams to support FinOps practices, reporting, governance, and cost controls. The role also contributes to budgeting, forecasting, tagging, allocation, and automation efforts that improve transparency and resource utilization.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud cost optimization efforts, including rightsizing, workload scheduling, and removing unused resources.
– Manage Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and committed use discounts.
– Analyze cloud usage, spending patterns, and pricing models to identify inefficiencies and savings opportunities.
– Translate cloud consumption into financial insights tied to business KPIs and cost centers.
– Support cloud budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning.
– Build and maintain dashboards and reporting to track spend, trends, anomalies, and unit economics.
– Develop and maintain tagging strategies and cost allocation models.
– Support governance policies, financial controls, and cost-aware engineering practices.
– Improve FinOps processes, standards, documentation, and shared tooling.
– Support automation for cost tracking, alerts, and reporting.
– Collaborate with engineering, finance, DevOps, and business teams to drive accountability and transparency.
– Share guidance on FinOps principles, tools, and cost-conscious design practices.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
– 10–14 years of experience in cloud engineering, financial analysis, or FinOps roles.
– Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
– Proven experience in cloud cost analysis, optimization, and reporting.
– Experience working with cross-functional teams across engineering, finance, and operations.
– Strong understanding of cloud pricing and billing models.
– Experience with data analysis, reporting, and dashboarding.
– Knowledge of cost allocation and tagging strategies.
– Experience with cloud cost management tools and billing platforms.
– Proficiency in Excel and/or BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
## Preferred Skills
– Multi-cloud exposure.
– Professional certifications such as FinOps Certified Practitioner or cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
– Master’s degree.
– Basic project management exposure.
– Basic scripting or automation knowledge.

– Build cost allocation and tagging approaches to improve visibility and accountability.
– Support budgeting, forecasting, and cloud cost planning.
– Track spend, trends, anomalies, and unit economics through reporting and dashboards.
– Support governance policies and financial controls to prevent overspending.
– Improve FinOps processes, standards, documentation, and automation workflows.
– Analyze pricing models and consumption patterns to inform cost optimization decisions.
