## About the Role
Xsolla is seeking a Senior FinOps Engineer to strengthen and mature cloud and infrastructure financial management across GCP, AWS, and on-prem environments. The role is part of the infrastructure team and is focused on improving cost transparency, optimizing spend, and supporting predictable scaling of global infrastructure.
This position works closely with Engineering, Finance, and Product teams to guide workload placement, architecture decisions, and scaling strategies. The goal is to build stronger FinOps practices, improve accountability, and help the business make better decisions using cost and usage data.
The role combines hands-on technical analysis with cross-functional influence. It requires someone who can interpret complex infrastructure usage patterns, create actionable reporting, and help teams adopt more cost-conscious ways of operating.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud cost optimization across GCP, AWS, and on-prem infrastructure.
– Analyze compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes usage to identify cost-saving opportunities without affecting performance or reliability.
– Build forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reporting for visibility into cost drivers and trends.
– Develop tagging and labeling standards, budgeting processes, and governance policies.
– Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Product on workload placement, architecture choices, and scaling strategies.
– Promote FinOps practices such as rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling optimization, multi-cloud efficiency, and storage cost optimization.
– Develop tooling, automation, and pipelines for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and usage attribution across Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, and physical servers.
– Support a cost-aware culture through training, FinOps reviews, and stakeholder communication.
– Stay current on cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry trends.
## Required Skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles with a strong focus on cost optimization.
– Hands-on experience with GCP, with AWS also required.
– Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tooling.
– Deep knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution in distributed environments.
– Proficiency with cloud cost tools and related data sources, including:
– GCP Billing exports
– BigQuery
– AWS CUR
– Third-party cost monitoring tools
– Cost monitoring features in observability tools
– Custom dashboards
– Strong analytical and data-engineering skills, including dashboard creation, SQL-based pipelines, and forecasting models.
– Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing Engineering, Product, and Finance stakeholders.
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical topics into business-oriented recommendations.
– Fluent English, written and verbal.
## Preferred Skills
– GCP and/or AWS cloud certifications, preferably at the Professional level.
– FinOps Framework knowledge or FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Experience in gaming, high-growth tech, SaaS, or multi-cloud platform environments.
– Familiarity with chargeback/showback models, internal cost allocation systems, or multi-tenant architecture.
– Experience with Terraform, Helm, or GitOps workflows in cost-related automation.
– Background in data analytics, cloud architecture, or financial modeling.
