# Senior FinOps Engineer

## About the Role
The Senior FinOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in optimizing cloud financial operations, particularly within the AWS and DataDog environments. This position is designed to align cloud investments with business objectives and ensure that spending can deliver maximum value. The role involves utilizing data and strategic analysis to make informed decisions that enhance performance, security, and operational efficiency.

The Senior FinOps Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams in Finance, Product, and Engineering. This collaboration aims to improve cloud cost visibility, forecasting, and accountability, ultimately contributing to more effective financial management across the organization.

## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud financial management initiatives, including cost optimization, budgeting, and forecasting.
– Analyze usage and spending data to identify insights and opportunities for cost savings.
– Manage cloud cost management tools and ensure best practices are implemented.
– Collaborate across teams to integrate FinOps principles into the overall business strategy.
– Create and enforce cloud usage policies that prioritize performance, cost-effectiveness, and security.
– Translate financial data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
– Stay updated on AWS and DataDog offerings, pricing models, and cost trends.
– Mentor teams on cloud financial best practices.
– Define and monitor key metrics to enhance cloud efficiency continuously.

## Required Skills
– Minimum of 3 years of experience implementing effective FinOps practices in large cloud-based organizations.
– Extensive experience in cloud financial management, particularly focusing on AWS and DataDog.
– Proficiency in cloud engineering or DevOps.
– Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools, primarily Terraform.
– Strong analytical skills in financial reporting, forecasting, and cost modeling.
– Solid understanding of AWS services and their impact on cost structures.
– Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts.
– Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across various teams.
– Experience with cloud cost management tools, such as Datadog Cloud Cost Management and AWS Cost Explorer.
– Proactive in identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements.

## Preferred Skills
– Certifications in AWS, FinOps, or cloud financial management are considered a plus.
