## About the Role
The Senior FinOps Engineer will support a growing FinOps organization focused on improving cloud spend management and financial accountability. This role exists to help establish and scale FinOps practices that align cloud costs with business value.
You will work across finance, engineering, and business stakeholders to build cost awareness and strengthen financial responsibility across the technology stack. The position combines cloud infrastructure knowledge, financial understanding, and data analysis to improve visibility, control, and optimization of cloud usage.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of FinOps practices across the organization.
– Develop cost allocation strategies, tagging policies, and showback/chargeback mechanisms.
– Build and maintain cloud cost forecasts and budgets.
– Analyze cloud resource usage to identify cost optimization opportunities.
– Create dashboards and reports that improve visibility into cloud spend.
– Partner with engineering teams to design cost-aware architectures and implement cost controls.
– Work with finance teams to integrate cloud costs into financial planning processes.
– Automate FinOps processes where possible.
– Stay current on cloud pricing models and optimization strategies.
– Educate and mentor teams on FinOps principles and cloud cost management.
## Required Skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering.
– At least 3 years of experience focused on cloud financial management / FinOps.
– Deep understanding of AWS, Azure, and GCP, including pricing models.
– Experience using FinOps tools.
– Strong skills in data analysis and visualization tools.
– Proficiency with infrastructure as code.
– Experience with cost allocation methodologies and chargeback models.
– Solid understanding of financial concepts as they apply to technology investments.
– Excellent communication skills for technical and financial audiences.
– Experience with AI/ML for FinOps use cases such as cost optimization, anomaly detection, and forecasting.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Foundation certification (FinOps Certified Practitioner).
– Certification in at least one cloud platform.
