# Lead Consultant – FinOps & Cloudability

## About the Role

This role leads customer engagements focused on cloud financial management, Cloudability implementations, and cloud cost optimization. Its purpose is to help organizations improve cloud spend visibility, strengthen FinOps practices, and increase the business value of their cloud investments.

The position combines consulting, solution design, implementation, and technical leadership. You will work closely with engineering, finance, procurement, and executive stakeholders, while also supporting pre-sales activity and mentoring other consultants.

A further part of the role involves IBM ApptioOne work, including integration with Cloudability to support Technology Business Management (TBM), budgeting, forecasting, cost transparency, and executive reporting.

## Key Responsibilities

– Lead end-to-end Cloudability implementations, optimization work, and FinOps consulting engagements
– Run discovery workshops to assess cloud environments, business needs, and FinOps maturity
– Design and implement Cloudability solutions, including billing integrations, business mappings, tagging, cost allocation, and reporting
– Build cloud cost models, dashboards, executive reports, and actionable insights
– Advise customers on governance, budgeting, forecasting, chargeback/showback, and operating models
– Drive optimization efforts such as rightsizing, reservations, savings plans, commitment management, and waste reduction
– Lead solution architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and integrations with CMDB, ERP, ITSM, and BI tools
– Mentor consultants on Cloudability configuration, best practices, and reusable implementation assets
– Act as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders across engineering, finance, procurement, and executive teams
– Present project status, optimization opportunities, and strategic recommendations to business and technology leaders
– Support pre-sales activities, including demonstrations, RFP responses, solution design, and effort estimation
– Contribute to improvements in FinOps delivery methods, accelerators, and practice assets
– Stay current on FinOps Foundation standards, cloud pricing models, and Cloudability capabilities
– Lead or support IBM ApptioOne implementations, including Cost Transparency, budgeting, planning, service costing, and Cloudability integration
– Design integrated FinOps and TBM solutions connecting Cloudability and ApptioOne
– Configure and maintain data integrations between Cloudability and ApptioOne to ensure accurate financial data flow and reporting consistency

## Required Skills

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
– 6–10+ years of experience in IT consulting, cloud, or technology financial management
– 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing and administering Cloudability
– Working knowledge of TBM principles and their integration with FinOps practices
– Strong understanding of FinOps and cloud financial management
– Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud billing and cost management
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
– Excellent customer-facing communication and presentation skills
– Experience leading customer workshops and implementation projects
