## About the Role
This FinOps position sits within Architecture, Strategy & Delivery (ASD) at Flutter Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). It is responsible for building, running, and improving a disciplined AWS FinOps capability across the organisation.
The role provides visibility into AWS spend, usage, forecasts, cost drivers, optimisation opportunities, ownership gaps, and financial risks across platforms, accounts, services, workloads, and initiatives. It turns strategy, CIO priorities, platform usage, and delivery roadmaps into a practical operating model that supports cost-informed decision-making.
Working across CIO, CTO, CSO, Finance, Procurement, and technology stakeholders, the role coordinates AWS cost governance and reporting. It supports the decisions that shape architecture, delivery, and budget control, while not holding final authority over strategy, budgets, engineering delivery, or procurement contracts.
## Key Responsibilities
– Build and maintain trusted AWS cost visibility across accounts, services, platforms, teams, products, markets, environments, and initiatives.
– Define FinOps reporting standards, including KPIs, dashboards, executive summaries, trend analysis, anomaly reporting, and decision-focused reporting.
– Explain spend drivers, forecast movement, variance causes, optimisation actions, ownership gaps, and required decisions.
– Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, actuals tracking, and spend-versus-plan analysis for AWS-related costs.
– Provide consumption forecasts, cost risk insight, demand assumptions, and budget variance explanations.
– Govern AWS tagging, account, environment, service, and cost allocation standards to support ownership and showback.
– Improve cost attribution across teams, initiatives, markets, and services.
– Own the optimisation pipeline, from identification and prioritisation through to tracking and measured impact.
– Coordinate optimisation actions across CIO, CTO, and CSO stakeholders.
– Oversee rightsizing, storage optimisation, unused resources, reserved commitments, savings plans, architecture choices, and workload lifecycle management.
– Establish consumption planning for peak periods, seasonal demand, campaigns, and high-traffic hours.
– Drive start/stop routines, time-based scaling, demand-based scaling, and lifecycle policies for suitable workloads.
– Embed cost awareness into initiative planning, design reviews, Technical Design Authority inputs, and delivery governance.
– Build FinOps forums, working sessions, review cadences, guidance, templates, and playbooks.
– Strengthen FinOps awareness and practical cost-management capability across teams.
## Required Skills
– Strong experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, cloud cost governance, technology finance, cloud program management, or infrastructure financial operations.
– Strong understanding of AWS cost and usage concepts, including accounts, services, billing dimensions, tagging, cost allocation, commitments, storage, compute, data transfer, and optimisation levers.
– Experience building cost visibility, dashboards, reporting routines, forecasts, variance explanations, and executive-level cloud cost insight.
– Experience coordinating optimisation actions across platform, infrastructure, architecture, security, finance, procurement, and delivery stakeholders.
– Experience working in matrix environments where cost ownership, technical ownership, and budget ownership sit with different stakeholders.
– Strong understanding of programme governance, RAID, dependency management, stakeholder management, reporting cadence, and escalation practices.
– Ability to translate AWS consumption into financial insight, business impact, risks, options, and decisions.
– Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge unclear ownership, unmanaged consumption, weak cost allocation, and unrealistic forecasts constructively.
– Experience using cloud cost tools, AWS billing data, dashboards, spreadsheets, BI/reporting platforms, or FinOps tooling.
– Ability to apply AI-enabled ways of working to improve analysis, reporting, summaries, governance preparation, and stakeholder communication while maintaining human judgement and accountability.
