# FinOps Consultant / FinOps Engineer (m/w/d)
## About the Role
This role supports clients in adopting and advancing FinOps practices and cloud financial management. The focus is on improving visibility, control, and optimization of cloud spend in public-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
You will work on FinOps projects for national and international clients and collaborate with IT, Finance, Business, and management stakeholders. The position combines advisory work with hands-on analysis, governance, forecasting, and reporting.
You will also contribute to workshops, training sessions, tool evaluations, and presales support. After project delivery, you will help further develop client environments and FinOps processes.
## Key Responsibilities
– Advise clients on introducing and maturing FinOps and cloud financial management practices.
– Analyze and optimize cloud costs in public-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
– Plan and deliver FinOps projects for national and international clients.
– Design cost allocation, chargeback, and showback models.
– Identify savings opportunities and implement sustainable cloud optimization measures.
– Build governance, reporting, and forecasting structures for cloud environments.
– Create management reports and dashboards for business teams and C-level stakeholders.
– Run workshops, training sessions, and knowledge transfers on FinOps and cloud cost management.
– Evaluate and introduce FinOps and cloud cost management tools.
– Support presales activities and provide technical and business advisory input.
– Continue developing client environments and FinOps processes after project completion.
## Required Skills
– Completed vocational training or a degree in computer science, business informatics, business administration, or a comparable qualification.
– Several years of experience in FinOps, cloud consulting, cloud governance, or cloud cost management.
– Strong knowledge of at least one public-cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
– Experience analyzing and optimizing cloud costs, including native cost-management capabilities.
– Understanding of cloud architectures, operating models, and modern platform concepts.
– Experience in customer projects and working with stakeholders up to management level.
– Strong analytical and structured working style.
– Strong consulting and communication skills.
– Very good German skills (C1).
– Good English skills (at least B2).
– Willingness to travel within Germany.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or a comparable certification.
– Cloud certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
– Experience with cloud cost management tools such as Apptio Cloudability or Flexera.
– Knowledge of Kubernetes and container cost optimization.
– Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting and BI tools.
– Basic knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
– Interest in cloud sustainability and AI cost management.
– Experience in cloud, FinOps, cloud governance, cloud architecture, or consulting environments with a focus on cloud cost optimization and financial management.
