# Data & FinOps Engineer
## About the Role
This role supports a GCP platform engagement at Lumenalta and sits at the intersection of data engineering and cloud financial operations. The core focus is building the infrastructure that supports audit logging, immutable retention, cost attribution, and real-time cloud spend visibility.
The work exists to strengthen observability and governance across a complex, multi-tenant platform. You will help ensure the environment remains traceable, compliant, and cost-efficient while delivering data infrastructure that serves operational and compliance needs.
You will partner with data, product, and engineering stakeholders on an active client project. This is a fully remote role for candidates based in Latin America (LATAM), with at least 6 hours of overlap with core business hours aligned primarily to Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with the deadline set for July 12, 2026 and feedback expected by July 20, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets, including compliance-ready schema design, Object Lock/immutability configuration, and access controls.
– Build and operate Cloud Audit Log pipelines that route MCP inputs and outputs into structured, queryable audit stores.
– Engineer Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards that provide spend visibility, spend trends, and budget forecasting.
– Implement FinOps tagging and labeling strategies across GCP resources to support cost attribution by tenant, project, and user, as well as chargeback, showback, and optimization.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, including alert policies, notification channels, and escalation thresholds.
– Build metadata pipeline workflows that feed archive management systems and support data lineage, retention schedules, and lifecycle policy enforcement.
– Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL pipelines with a focus on data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Work with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to deliver data infrastructure that supports operational and compliance requirements.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with production data pipeline experience and specialization in cloud cost management and audit/compliance infrastructure.
– Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery, including audit dataset design, schema modeling for compliance, and Object Lock/immutability configuration for log retention.
– Experience routing and processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines, including log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Proven ability to implement Cloud Billing exports, build FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies, and create Looker Studio dashboards for tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota-exhaustion and cost-anomaly alerting in Cloud Monitoring, including alert policies, notification channels, and escalation thresholds for multi-tenant environments.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems, including lifecycle policy enforcement and retention schedule automation.
– Strong proficiency in Python and advanced SQL for BigQuery and related GCP data services.
– Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Familiarity with data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Exposure to Looker, beyond Looker Studio, for more advanced BI and cost reporting.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.

## Why You Might Be Interested
This role combines hands-on data engineering with FinOps and compliance-focused cloud infrastructure on a current GCP platform engagement. You would own systems that support audit logging, immutable retention, cost attribution, and spend visibility in a multi-tenant environment. The position also offers remote work in LATAM, focused project ownership, and collaboration with experienced senior-level developers. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with feedback expected by July 20, 2026.
