## About the Role
Lumenalta is hiring an experienced Data & FinOps Engineer for an active GCP platform engagement. This role combines data engineering and cloud financial operations to support auditability, immutable retention, cost attribution, and real-time spend visibility across a multi-tenant environment.
You will help build the observability and governance layer that keeps the platform compliant, traceable, and cost-efficient. The work involves partnering with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to deliver reliable infrastructure for both operational and compliance needs.
This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in Latin America (LATAM). Candidates must be able to maintain at least a 6-hour overlap with core business hours, which are primarily aligned with Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones. Applications will be accepted until July 12, 2026, and candidates can expect feedback by July 20, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets with compliant schema design, immutable retention settings, and appropriate access controls.
– Build and operate Cloud Audit Log pipelines that continuously route inputs and outputs into structured audit stores for review.
– Develop Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards for real-time cost visibility, trend analysis, and budget forecasting.
– Implement tagging and labeling standards across GCP resources to support cost attribution by tenant, project, and user.
– Enable chargeback, showback, and optimization workflows through granular spend allocation.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, with escalation thresholds and notification channels.
– Build metadata pipelines that feed archive management systems and support lineage, retention schedules, and lifecycle policy enforcement.
– Design and maintain reliable ETL pipelines with strong data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Work with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that supports operational and compliance requirements.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Experience building production data pipelines, with increasing specialization in cloud cost management and audit/compliance infrastructure.
– Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery, including audit dataset design, compliance-oriented schema modeling, and Object Lock/immutability configuration.
– Experience processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines, including log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Proven ability to implement Cloud Billing exports, design FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies, and build Looker Studio dashboards for cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota-exhaustion and cost-anomaly alerting in Cloud Monitoring for multi-tenant environments.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems, including lifecycle policy enforcement and retention schedule automation.
– Strong Python skills for pipeline development.
– Advanced SQL skills for querying large datasets in BigQuery and related GCP data services.
– Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
## Preferred Skills
– Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Experience with data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Experience with Looker beyond Looker Studio.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
## Cloud Platforms & Technologies

## FinOps Responsibilities
– Build Cloud Billing exports to support real-time spend visibility.
– Create cost attribution by tenant, project, and user.
– Implement tagging and labeling strategies for chargeback and showback.
– Produce dashboards for spend trends and budget forecasting.
– Configure alerting for cost anomalies and quota exhaustion.
– Support optimization workflows through better cost allocation and visibility.
## Benefits
– 100% dedication to one project at a time.
– Opportunity to work with a team of senior-level developers.
– Projects that use leading technologies.
## Why You Might Be Interested
This role offers a rare blend of data engineering and FinOps ownership, with direct involvement in audit logging, immutable retention, and cloud spend visibility. It is well suited to someone who wants to work on infrastructure that supports compliance and financial accountability at the same time. The position also offers single-project focus and a remote setup for LATAM-based candidates, with defined overlap to support collaboration across U.S. time zones.
