## About the Role
Lumenalta is hiring a Data & FinOps Engineer for an active GCP platform engagement. This role combines data engineering and cloud financial operations to support auditability, cost attribution, and real-time spend reporting across a complex multi-tenant environment.
You will build the data and governance layer behind immutable audit storage, Cloud Audit Log pipelines, Cloud Billing exports, and dashboards that help engineering and business stakeholders understand usage and forecast spend. The objective is to keep the platform compliant, traceable, and cost-efficient while maintaining dependable data workflows.
This is a fully remote role for candidates based in Latin America (LATAM). A minimum 6-hour overlap with core business hours is required, with those hours primarily aligned to Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones. Applications are open until July 26, 2026, and feedback is expected by August 3, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets, including compliant schema design, immutable retention configuration, and access controls.
– Build Cloud Audit Log pipelines that continuously route MCP inputs and outputs into structured audit stores for security, compliance, and operational review.
– Develop Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards for live spend visibility, trend analysis, and budget forecasting.
– Create FinOps tagging and labeling approaches across GCP resources to support cost allocation by tenant, project, and user.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, including notification and escalation thresholds.
– Build metadata pipelines that feed archive management systems and support lineage, retention schedules, and lifecycle enforcement.
– Develop and maintain reliable ETL pipelines with a focus on data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Work with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that supports both operational and compliance needs.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Hands-on experience with BigQuery, including audit dataset design and compliance-oriented schema modeling.
– Experience configuring Object Lock or immutability settings for tamper-resistant log retention.
– Experience routing and processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines.
– Understanding of log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Experience implementing Cloud Billing exports.
– Experience designing FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies.
– Experience building Looker Studio dashboards for tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota-exhaustion and cost-anomaly alerts in Cloud Monitoring.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems.
– Strong Python skills for pipeline development.
– Advanced SQL skills for large-scale querying in BigQuery and related GCP services.
– Experience with data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
## Preferred Skills
– Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Looker experience beyond Looker Studio.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
