# Controller:in Tech & FinOps

## About the Role

As a full-time Controller:in Tech & FinOps at idealo, you will act as a finance business partner for the Product and Tech organization. The role exists to make investment activity, technical usage, and cloud and AI costs transparent so that decisions are based on reliable financial analysis.

You will work at the intersection of Finance, Product, and Tech, helping shape idealo’s FinOps approach. In close collaboration with Product, Platform, Engineering, Operations, the CFO, and the Executive Team, you will translate technical topics into financial insights and support strategic and operational decision-making.

## Key Responsibilities

– Provide end-to-end finance business partnering for Product and Tech, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial control.
– Build meaningful KPIs, reports, forecasts, and business cases.
– Translate technical topics into financial decision support.
– Manage and optimize AWS, cloud, and AI costs through cost allocation, forecasting, and management reporting.
– Develop FinOps best practices with Product, Platform, and Engineering teams.
– Identify and track efficiency and savings opportunities.
– Use AI in controlling to support automation, analysis, anomaly detection, forecasting, and management reporting.
– Partner closely with the CFO, Executive Team, and Tech, Product, and Operations leads on strategic and economic decisions.

## Required Skills

– Several years of experience in controlling, finance business partnering, or financial analysis.
– Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
– Strong numerical skills.
– Experience developing KPIs, profitability analyses, investment calculations, and scenario analyses.
– Ability to analyze complex cost, performance, and business-model structures.
– Ability to explain financial, operational, and technical relationships clearly.
– Independent, precise, and solution-oriented working style.
– Strong communication skills and a confident, collaborative personality.
– Very good Excel skills.
– Experience with ERP and BI tools.
– Fluent German and English.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Manage and optimize AWS, cloud, and AI spend.
– Improve cost transparency through allocation and forecasting.
– Produce management reporting for cloud and AI costs.
– Establish FinOps best practices with Product, Platform, and Engineering.
– Track efficiency measures and savings opportunities.
