# Cloud FinOps Specialist

## About the Role

Canadian Bank Note Company (CBN) is hiring a Cloud FinOps Specialist to strengthen and mature cloud financial management across its Microsoft Azure environment. The initial focus is Azure, with scope expected to broaden into AWS and wider multi-cloud financial operations as the cloud strategy evolves.

This role serves as a key link between Finance, Cloud Engineering, Operations, Product, Security, and Enterprise Architecture. The main objective is to make cloud spending visible, accountable, predictable, and well-controlled through reporting, governance, forecasting, chargeback/showback, and ongoing cost optimization.

## Key Responsibilities

– Build and maintain Azure FinOps processes, controls, and reporting.
– Improve cost visibility and accountability through governance practices.
– Develop cost dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reporting.
– Define and maintain cloud tagging standards to support allocation.
– Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and chargeback/showback.
– Analyze Azure usage trends and identify savings opportunities.
– Optimize cloud resources across compute, storage, databases, networking, Kubernetes, and platform services.
– Manage Azure Reservations and Savings Plans.
– Work with engineering teams to support cost-efficient architecture and operations.
– Track savings and maintain ongoing optimization roadmaps.
– Produce spend and consumption forecasts and reports.
– Provide visibility across business units, projects, products, environments, and cost centers.
– Investigate spending anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
– Develop cloud financial governance standards, policies, and guardrails.
– Contribute to FinOps, Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE), and governance initiatives.
– Identify opportunities to automate reporting and FinOps workflows.
– Promote cost awareness and financial accountability across technology teams.
– Advise on the financial impact of cloud architecture, operations, and migration work.

## Required Skills

– Legally eligible to work in Canada.
– Fluent in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
– Able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability (Level I) security clearance.
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
– 3 years of experience in cloud operations, cloud engineering, infrastructure administration, DevOps, cloud cost management, IT financial management, or a related area.
– Experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments and working on cloud cost management, reporting, or optimization.
– Working knowledge of Azure services, cloud consumption models, and cost governance practices.
– Experience using Power BI and Excel for reporting and analysis.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
– Ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

## Preferred Skills

– 5–7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud financial management, FinOps, cloud governance, or IT financial management.
– One or more of the following certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Power BI Data Analyst Associate, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
– Experience with large-scale enterprise Azure environments.
– Experience building cloud budgeting, forecasting, chargeback/showback, or cost optimization programs.
– Experience with cloud governance, CCoE, or FinOps initiatives.
– Knowledge of Azure cost management and governance tools, cloud operating models, and FinOps best practices.
– Experience creating dashboards, KPI reporting, and financial analytics in Power BI.
– Experience with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
– Exposure to AWS services, billing models, or multi-cloud environments.
