## About the Role

**Cloud FinOps Engineer — Atlanta, GA**

This role sits within the Public Cloud Engineering / Cloud Center of Excellence and is focused on connecting cloud operations with financial accountability. It is designed for a technologist who can work across finance and cloud disciplines to support cost management, allocation, and reporting for the company’s AWS cloud accounts.

The position is responsible for processing AWS accruals and month-end cloud charges, allocating usage-based costs to IT business partners and business units, and supporting cloud costing models for leadership. It also serves as a liaison for cloud consumers across operations, development, engineering, architecture, and business teams by providing cost estimates, budget insight, and run-rate analysis.

In addition to day-to-day cloud cost management, the role supports FinOps program development, governance, tooling, training, and continuous improvement. It works closely with Finance, Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and engineering teams to improve visibility, accountability, and optimization across cloud spend.

## Key Responsibilities

– Process and allocate AWS accruals and month-end cloud billing for all cloud accounts.
– Allocate usage-based charges to IT business partners and business units.
– Develop and maintain KPIs for real-time cost, consumption, and product-level visibility.
– Create and deploy costing templates for products and services.
– Build self-service cloud cost reporting for product teams and end users.
– Design and maintain tagging strategies for shared cloud services and cost accountability.
– Monitor budgets, overages, and cost trends; create tools to support cost oversight.
– Calculate and allocate chargeback, Reserved Instance, and Savings Plan amortization monthly.
– Identify cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities through trend and behavioral analysis.
– Define and improve cloud cost management processes for globally distributed teams.
– Partner with Finance, Operations, Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, and Procurement on optimization and cloud contract discussions.
– Evaluate and adopt cloud cost management tools, processes, and frameworks.
– Support forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and cloud cost analytics.
– Help teams understand the cost impact of cloud infrastructure decisions and deployments.
– Contribute to project planning, management, and architecture design reviews.
– Develop standards, procedures, guidelines, documentation, and training for cloud cost management.
– Deliver cloud cost awareness training.
– Track cloud provider updates, industry trends, and FinOps practices.

## Required Skills

– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, a relevant field, or equivalent work or military experience.
– 4–8 years of overall IT experience.
– 3+ years of enterprise cloud platform experience with AWS or Azure.
– Experience with cloud infrastructure, services, and usage models across network and compute.
– Experience creating governance for cloud spend.
– Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
– Experience monitoring and reporting on cloud spend.
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to work independently and coordinate across multiple internal teams and project managers.
– Ability to create clear, data-driven presentations for business stakeholders.
– Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
– Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly and concisely.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
– Familiarity with traditional and Agile methodologies.
– Cloud-agnostic mindset.
– Active participation in cloud cost governance and monitoring for discount commitments such as Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, sustained use, and committed use discounts.
– Knowledge of cloud financial management as it relates to machine learning infrastructure, including GPU cost optimization and AI workload expense modeling.

## FinOps Responsibilities
