# Cloud FinOps Analyst

## About the Role

The Cloud FinOps Analyst will drive financial accountability, cost transparency, and optimisation across Azure and Snowflake environments. The role will help shape and govern cloud financial management practices, supporting efficient consumption and value realisation across cloud and data platforms.

Working with Engineering, Data, Cloud Operations, and Finance, the analyst will lead FinOps optimisation initiatives, establish governance frameworks, and oversee AKS cost observability. The role combines financial analysis with technical insight to improve visibility, planning, and cost ownership.

## Key Responsibilities

– Lead FinOps optimisation across Azure, Snowflake, and related data platforms.
– Analyse cloud and Snowflake spend, identify trends, and recommend financial and technical improvements.
– Implement and monitor cost-saving measures, including rightsizing, workload scheduling, warehouse optimisation, and waste reduction.
– Develop, maintain, and enforce cost governance frameworks covering tagging, budgeting, guardrails, and accountability.
– Oversee cost observability through Kubecost, Snowflake dashboards, and cloud cost portals.
– Manage budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, and financial reporting for cloud and Snowflake platforms.
– Support chargeback and showback models.
– Partner with Finance, Engineering, Cloud Operations, and Data teams to embed cost awareness and shared ownership of optimisation outcomes.
– Support planning cycles and communicate cost insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

## Required Skills

– Strong financial analysis skills, including spend modelling, forecasting, and communicating insights.
– Knowledge of cloud pricing models and platform fundamentals, including Azure and Snowflake.
– Experience with FinOps practices and cloud cost management tools.
– Experience using cloud-native cost portals.
– Ability to collaborate effectively with Finance and technical teams.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Persistent and proactive approach, with the ability to navigate organisational complexity and deliver cost improvements.

## Preferred Skills

– Experience with Kubecost.
– Knowledge of KQL.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Analyse Azure and Snowflake consumption and spend.
– Identify and implement rightsizing, scheduling, warehouse optimisation, and waste-reduction opportunities.
– Establish cost visibility through Kubecost, Snowflake dashboards, and cloud cost portals.
– Manage budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, and financial reporting.
– Develop chargeback and showback models.
– Implement tagging, guardrails, and accountability processes.
– Track budget performance and optimisation outcomes.
– Promote cost-aware decision-making across Finance, Engineering, Cloud Operations, and Data teams.
