# Job Description: Cloud Finance Lead

## About the Role
The Cloud Finance Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping the cloud economics strategy for Moody’s Analytics. This position serves as the primary financial partner to the Engineering, Product, and FinOps teams, providing insights that drive transparency around cloud spending and investment decisions. The role entails close collaboration with cross-functional leadership to understand and translate business and engineering drivers impacting cloud costs.

The key mission of this position is to ensure that cloud expenditures are effectively managed and aligned with strategic goals. By leveraging deep financial expertise and advanced analytical skills, the Cloud Finance Lead will influence decision-making through compelling narratives and data-driven insights, all while supporting the company’s aim to decode risk and unlock opportunities in the financial landscape.

## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud economics strategy and financial partnerships across Engineering, Product, and FinOps.
– Act as the primary business partner for cloud spend, translating technical insights into financial strategy.
– Build and maintain trusted relationships within Finance, Engineering, and Product teams.
– Develop and enhance driver-based cloud consumption models that link engineering and product activities to cloud spend outcomes.
– Conduct cloud forecasting, annual planning, and rolling forecasts, providing variance analysis for executive review.
– Create product-level cloud cost transparency frameworks, including tagging governance and allocation methodologies.
– Present actionable insights and recommendations to senior Finance leadership and executives.
– Challenge existing assumptions and influence strategic decision-making through data-driven analysis.

## Required Skills
– 8–10+ years of experience in Technology Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Cloud Economics, or related disciplines.
– Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers and consumption-based pricing models, specifically with platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
– Proven experience in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and building driver-based financial models.
– Knowledge of FinOps concepts, allocation methodologies, and cloud governance practices.
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
– Strong stakeholder management capabilities and the ability to drive data-driven decision-making.
– Proficient in the application of AI tools for operational efficiency and cloud finance strategies.

## Preferred Skills
– Experience in designing and implementing AI-powered financial solutions.
– Familiarity with contemporary AI risk management practices.
