# Head of Cost Management – FinOps
## About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Cost Management – FinOps to lead and structure the FinOps practice at SGA. This role is pivotal in defining, implementing, and continuously optimizing internal processes, policies, and procedures. By prioritizing scalability and alignment with industry best practices, the Head of FinOps will ensure that cloud cost management supports our mission to deliver stability, efficiency, and security in digital operations.
The role involves the development of new products and services focused on FinOps, enhancing our portfolio to meet client needs. Additionally, the Head of FinOps will collaborate with Technical Account Managers (TAMs) and engineering teams to ensure that technical architecture aligns with financial best practices. By fostering a culture of financial responsibility in cloud usage, the individual will promote transparency and continuous training among technical teams and clients.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead the FinOps practice, focusing on process definition and continuous optimization.
– Develop and package new FinOps products and services for SGA’s portfolio.
– Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud consumption and costs, identifying saving opportunities (e.g., reserved instances, saving plans).
– Analyze cost anomalies, adjusting thresholds as necessary and addressing discrepancies.
– Apply AI techniques to automate billing anomaly analysis and forecast cost trends.
– Collaborate with TAMs and engineering teams for alignment on technical and financial best practices.
– Promote cloud cost awareness and financial responsibility culture among technical teams and clients.
– Develop and present executive-level reports on ROI and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
## Required Skills
– Proven leadership experience in cloud cost management and FinOps.
– Strong business acumen and ability to create value-added products from technical knowledge.
– In-depth knowledge of cloud billing models and cost management tools for Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
– Practical experience in utilizing AI for data analysis and automation.
– Proficiency in data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI).
– Excellent communication, negotiation skills, and resilience in managing expectations from clients and internal teams.
## Preferred Skills
– Official FinOps certifications (e.g., FOCP – FinOps Certified Practitioner).
– Cloud certifications in architecture or cost management from major providers (e.g., AWS Cloud Financial Management, Azure Solutions Architect).
– Experience with managed service providers (MSPs) in a multi-client environment.
– Familiarity with ITIL 4 and agile methodologies for structured process governance.
