# FinOps Engineer

## About the Role

An experienced FinOps Engineer is needed to improve cloud cost efficiency and strengthen financial control across Azure and AWS. The role exists to identify savings opportunities, support disciplined cloud consumption, and align cloud spending with organizational goals.

You will work closely with Engineering, Finance, Procurement, stakeholders, and business units to build clearer allocation, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and governance practices. The role also supports cost-aware architecture, FinOps tool adoption, and automation that improves tracking and optimization.

## Key Responsibilities

– Monitor cloud spending across Azure and AWS and identify opportunities to reduce cost.
– Build and maintain cost allocation approaches using tagging and cost hierarchy models.
– Develop cloud cost dashboards, financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
– Work with engineering teams to embed cost-aware architecture principles.
– Support the adoption of FinOps tools and automation frameworks.
– Design automation for cost tracking and optimization using scripting.
– Partner with Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and business teams on planning and accountability.
– Promote cloud financial governance through awareness sessions and training.
– Keep current on FinOps practices and cloud pricing models.

## Required Skills

– Strong experience with Azure and AWS, including cloud cost management tools.
– Deep understanding of cloud pricing models.
– Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
– Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
– Practical experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or cloud governance.
– Knowledge of FinOps Foundation principles and framework.
– Experience with tagging strategies.
– Strong analytical skills with Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
– Ability to work with large cost datasets such as AWS CUR and Azure exports.
– Experience in large-scale enterprise cloud environments.
– Exposure to multi-cloud architectures.

## Preferred Skills

– FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or equivalent certification.
– Azure or AWS certifications, such as Azure Administrator or AWS Solutions Architect.
